Ensign Samuel Humphrey married Mary Tuller, daughter of John Tuller and Elizabeth Case, on 26 February 1712/13 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Ensign Samuel Humphrey married Lydia North in December 1714. Ensign Samuel Humphrey married Mary Orton on 31 October 1731. Ensign Samuel Humphrey died on 16 October 1759 at Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT, at age 73.3,2 He was buried at Oviatt Family Cemetery, Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT.2

About 1739 Samuel removed with his wife and younger children from Simsbury to Goshen, and settled upon a tract of land he had bid off at New Haven 9 March 1738. This land was located in the north part of town where he and his sons gave the name to the road on which they lived, it having been known as long as kept open, and till within a few years, as "Humphrey Lane." He and his last wife were members of the Episcopal Church and the first services of that church were held at their house.4
