Samantha Godard Holcombe married Edward George Humphrey, son of George Humphrey and Sophronia Hamblin, on 28 December 1869 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Samantha Godard Holcombe died on 7 December 1923 at age 82. She was buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.²

     Edward George Humphrey was born on 23 September 1838 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of George Humphrey and Sophronia Hamblin.² Edward George Humphrey married Samantha Godard Holcombe, daughter of Chauncey Holcombe and Samantha Goddard, on 28 December 1869 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Edward George Humphrey died on 14 March 1930 at age 91.³ He was buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.³

     Kate Luriette Humphrey was born on 14 October 1873 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. She was the daughter of Edward George Humphrey and Samantha Godard Holcombe. Kate Luriette Humphrey was a member on 31 October 1928 at DAR, Omaha Chapter; 244184, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. She died in 1950.¹

     Philander Holcombe was born on 8 April 1807 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA. He was the son of Oliver Holcombe. Philander Holcombe married Betsey Holcombe.

     Betsey Holcombe was born on 20 February 1810 at Granville, Hampden Co., MA. She married Philander Holcombe, son of Oliver Holcombe. Betsey Holcombe died on 9 January 1844 at Granville, Hampden Co., MA, at age 33.

     Martin Philander Holcombe was born on 6 January 1838 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.² He was the son of Philander Holcombe and Betsey Holcombe. Martin Philander Holcombe married Abigail Blood on 21 July 1858.² Martin Philander Holcombe died on 28 October 1904 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA, at age 66.² He was buried on 31 October 1904 at New Southwick Cemetery, Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.³

She was buried at New Southwick Cemetery, Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.²

     Edward Elmor Holcombe was born on 15 October 1862 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.³ He was the son of Martin Philander Holcombe and Abigail Blood.⁴ Edward Elmor Holcombe married Charlietta Rowley on 20 January 1885.⁵ Edward Elmor Holcombe died on 24 July 1940 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA, at age 77.

     Charlietta Rowley was born on 28 November 1864 at Lynn, Essex Co., MA. She married Edward Elmor Holcombe, son of Martin Philander Holcombe and Abigail Blood, on 20 January 1885.¹ Charlietta Rowley died on 11 February 1930 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA, at age 65.

     Doris Elizabeth Holcombe was born on 3 June 1907 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.³ She was the daughter of Edward Elmor Holcombe and Charlietta Rowley. Doris Elizabeth Holcombe married John Battista Zatti on 16 April 1941 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.³ Doris Elizabeth Holcombe was a member on 14 April 1951 at DAR, Abigail Ellsworth Chapter; 399846, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She died on 10 October 1998 at Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC, at age 91.³ She was buried on 17 October 1998 at Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

"... she lived in windosr over 50 years moving to Durham, NC four years ago. She graduated from Westfield Teachers College and boston University and taught in Munson and Southwick, MA, and Manchester and East Granby. In 1945 she began teaching elementary school in Windosr until her retirement in 1977. Her teaching career spanned 47 years. She was a member Trinity United methodist churches in Windsor, CT and Durham, NC, Abigail Ellsworth Wolcott Chapter DAR, American Guiod of Organists, Windsor Historical society and the Book Lovers club of the first Church in Windsor. She leaves her son, John B. Zatti, Jr. and his wife Linda of Arlington, VA and Durham, NC; a granddaughter, Angela McGarity of Cary, NC; and a great-grandson, Andrew McGarity."

     John Battista Zatti was born on 16 January 1890 at Trieste, Italy.¹ He married Doris Elizabeth Holcombe, daughter of Edward Elmor Holcombe and Charlietta Rowley, on 16 April 1941 at Southwick, Hampden Co., MA.¹ John Battista Zatti died on 16 September 1960 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 70.¹

     Evelyn Louise Humphrey was born on 5 May 1887 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.² She was the daughter of Edward George Humphrey and Samantha Godard Holcombe. Evelyn Louise Humphrey married Richard A. Ross on 20 June 1914.² Evelyn Louise Humphrey was a member on 20 September 1927 at DAR, Omaha Chapter; 226965, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. She died on 19 February 1949 at age 61.²

     Richard A. Ross married Evelyn Louise Humphrey, daughter of Edward George Humphrey and Samantha Godard Holcombe, on 20 June 1914.¹

     John Battista Zatti Jr. was born on 26 June 1943 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA. He was the son of John Battista Zatti and Doris Elizabeth Holcombe.²

     Timothy Holcombe was born in 1776 at VT. He was the son of Noah Holcombe and Hannah Marsh. Timothy Holcombe married Ann Culver. Timothy Holcombe married Tryphena Holcombe.

Timothy with other families of Holcombe, Culver and Upson started in 1808 from Vt., reaching Lake Champlain they launched a sail boat, rowing it when the wind was unfavorable, through New York State via the little lakes, down the Mohawk river and reached lake Ontario and Niagara; hired help to take their boat around to Lake Erie, keeping close to the shore passing Cleveland, OH (then consisting of 4 log cabins, 1 of which was a hotel); sailed up Cuyahoga River to Bowton Twp., Summit Co., OH, where they went ashore.

Timothy was enumerated in the 1840 Springfield, Summit Co., OH, federal census. Males 5-10 1, 20-30 1, 60-70 1; females 10-15 1, 15-20 2, 20-30 1, 50-60 1.

Timothy and Tryphena were recorded in the 1850 census of Springfield Twp., Summit Co., OH. He was a farmer age 75, she was 63. Children in the household were Cynthia 24, and Westley 15.


Timothy also lived in Magadore Township, Summit County, OH and had children listed in Weir.

Tryphena had moved from Granby, Ct., in 1820 to Suymmit Co., Oh., settling in 1828 in Magadore Twp., summit co., The removel from Ganby tok six weeks. They brought two cows and a churn, in which the cream of the cows' milk was made into butter daily by the joltin gof the wagon.

Timothy was dead before 1860 when Tryphena and their children constitute the entire family as recorded then in Magadore, owners of real estate $5,000.
