Emily Webster Ellsworth1

b. 21 May 1864, d. 13 February 1937
     Emily became a Charter Member of the Tuth Wyllys Chapter of the DAR in Hartford, CT #2256. She had in her possession a letter from Oliver to "Nabby", dated 23 April 1783. The letter was filed with her DAR Chapter. A Copy was given to the Connecticut State Library Archives division, where it may be accesed through the manuscript card catalogue. Her obituary (14 Feb 1937 in the Hartford Courant) noted two sisters, Mrs. J.C. Parker of Hartford and Mrs. Geroge Burnham of Falmouth Foreside, Maine, and a brother, Rev. Wolcott W. Ellsworth of New York City. Emily Webster Ellsworth was born on 21 May 1864. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Emily Webster Ellsworth married Andrew Julius Anderson on 23 August 1900. Emily Webster Ellsworth died on 13 February 1937 at age 72. She was buried on 16 February 1937 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

     Alice became a member of the First Church in Hartford. She attended Miss Hersey's School on Beacon Hill in Boston, where she met her future husband. After her marriage she moved first to Brooklyn Heights, NY, as George was a member of an architectural firm in New York City. They moved later to Portland, Maine because of ill health. She resided there for the rest of her life. In Portland she was a member of the State Street Congregational Church. She was a member of the Mayflower Society and served on the board of the Colonial Dames.

George was a businessman and travelled extensively, sometimes taking his family with him. They traveled abroad for nine months after Margaret graduated from Smith College. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth was born on 6 October 1877 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth married George Burnham on 17 January 1900. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth lived on 16 February 1937 at Falmouth Foreside, ME. She died on 9 April 1970 at age 92.
