     Florence Maria Waring was born on 15 January 1875 at Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. She was the daughter of John Augustus Waring and Helen Maria Humphrey. Florence Maria Waring married Clarence Fitch. Florence Maria Waring died on 6 October 1931 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH, at age 56.

Florence was enumerated in the 1920 Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH, federal census, ED 404. She was divorced and 40. Children in the household were John 22, Arthur 20, Clarence 19, Francis 15, and Waring 7.


Florence was enumerated in the 1930 Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH, federal census, in the Cleveland State Hospital.

     Susan Humphrey was born on 22 February 1839 at Granville, Licking Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe.¹ Susan Humphrey died on 25 August 1864 at age 25.¹

At the time of her death, Susan's husband, Willson, was a lieutenant in the 14th Regiment, Ohio Volunteers, Infantry.

     Carolton Humphrey Prentiss was born on 21 August 1864 at Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. He was the son of Wilson T. Prentiss and Susan Humphrey. Carolton Humphrey Prentiss died on 24 October 1864 at Toledo, Lucas Co., OH.

     Hubert Humphrey was born on 2 November 1841 at Granville, Licking Co., OH. He was the son of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe. Hubert Humphrey died in 1864 at Battle at Jonesborough.

     Hubert Humphrey was born on 14 November 1864 at McComb, OH. He was the son of Hubert Humphrey and Nancy Elizabeth Pickens.

     Edwin Humphrey was born on 14 December 1843 at Granville, Licking Co., OH. He was the son of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe. Edwin Humphrey died on 16 January 1866 at age 22.

Edwin served in the war of the Rebellion; was taken prisoner at Harper's Ferry, but was immediately paroled; was afterward detailed to act as secretary to Gen. Tillson. He was lost on the Mississippi river, five miles below Memphis, on the steamer Platte Valley. At the time of his death he had charge of two plantations belonging to Dr. McGavoc, which were situated below Memphis, where he had been to purchase supplies.

     William Selby Humphrey was born on 20 July 1848 at Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. He was the son of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe.

William has been for several years, and is now (1882) employed by the Commercial Agency of R. G. Dunn & Co., of Chicago. Ill.

     Alice Caroline Humphrey was born on 3 April 1851 at Etna, OH. She was the daughter of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe. Alice Caroline Humphrey died on 21 December 1864 at Toledo, Lucas Co., OH, at age 13.

     Albert Phelps Humphrey was born on 13 December 1854 at Belmore, Putnam Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Dr. Phelps Humphrey and Maria Holcombe.¹

Albert has been for the past seven years (1882) a salesman in the saddlery establishment of Risser & Reitz, Nos. 80 and 82 Wabash Ave., Chicago., Ill.

     Dorcas Humphrey was born on 5 June 1790 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 She was the daughter of Lemuel Gordon Humphrey and Dorcas Case.¹ Dorcas Humphrey married Ralph Richardson on 23 February 1817 at Delaware Co., OH. Dorcas Humphrey died on 14 October 1821 at Delaware Co., OH, at age 31.¹

     Ralph Richardson was born circa 1783. He married Dorcas Humphrey, daughter of Lemuel Gordon Humphrey and Dorcas Case, on 23 February 1817 at Delaware Co., OH. Ralph Richardson died on 12 September 1823.

     Abraham Case Fowler was born in 1784. He was the son of Rev. Abraham Fowler and Sarah Humphrey.

     Thomas Humphrey was born say 1708.¹ He was the son of Thomas Humphrey and Hannah Hillyer. Thomas Humphrey married Abigail Collyer. Thomas Humphrey died on 13 May 1765.¹

     Abigail Collyer was born say 1713. She married Thomas Humphrey, son of Thomas Humphrey and Hannah Hillyer. Abigail Collyer died on 2 September 1775.

     Cora Cox was born. She was the daughter of Leander Cox and Anna Holcombe.

In 1884 they were living in Portland, Oregon, and had one daughter.

     William Humphrey was born on 15 February 1821 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lyman Humphrey and Hannah Francis.

      Mary Emma Holcombe was also known as Emma Holcombe. She was born circa 1843.^1,2 She was the daughter of Humphrey Holcombe and Roxanna Case.^1,2 Mary Emma Holcombe married Hector F. Humphrey, son of Lyman Humphrey and Hannah Francis, on 17 October 1843.^1,3 Mary Emma Holcombe died on 7 December 1844.^1,2

EDITOR'S NOTE: I don't know where McPherson came up with these dates. She couldn't have been born in 1843 and married in 1843 and had a child in 1844. Perhaps Mary Emma was a daughter of Humphrey's first marriage, born during the 1820's which is more likely.

     Hector F. Humphrey was born on 28 December 1817 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Lyman Humphrey and Hannah Francis. Hector F. Humphrey married Mary Emma Holcombe, daughter of Humphrey Holcombe and Roxanna Case, on 17 October 1843.^1,2

     Mary Humphrey was born on 7 December 1844.¹ She was the daughter of Hector F. Humphrey and Mary Emma Holcombe.¹

     Mary Humphrey was born on 24 October 1653 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant.¹

     Sarah Humphrey was born on 6 March 1658/59 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant.

     Martha Humphrey was born on 5 October 1663 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant.

     Abigail Humphrey was born on 3 March 1665/66 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant. Abigail Humphrey married Lieut. Benjamin Graham on 12 February 1684. Abigail Humphrey died on 27 June 1697 at age 31.

     Lieut. Benjamin Graham was born. He married Abigail Humphrey, daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant, on 12 February 1684. Lieut. Benjamin Graham died in 1725.

     Hannah Humphrey was born on 21 October 1669 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Michael Humphrey and Priscilla Grant.¹

     Mary Humphrey was born on 14 April 1674. She was the daughter of Sergeant John Humphrey and Hannah Griffin.

     Abigail Humphrey was born on 8 November 1678. She was the daughter of Sergeant John Humphrey and Hannah Griffin.

     Nathaniel Humphrey was born on 3 March 1680 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Sergeant John Humphrey and Hannah Griffin.¹ Nathaniel Humphrey was baptized on 6 February 1697/98. He married Agnes Spencer on 14 March 1708/9. Nathaniel Humphrey died in December 1711 at age 31.¹

     Agnes Spencer was born say 1689. She married Nathaniel Humphrey, son of Sergeant John Humphrey and Hannah Griffin, on 14 March 1708/9. Agnes Spencer died on 11 April 1773.

     Michael Griswold was born on 7 March 1666/67 at Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Michael Griswold and Ann (?). Michael Griswold married Elizabeth Burnham, daughter of William Burnham and Elizabeth Loomis, on 12 May 1692. Michael Griswold died on 24 July 1742 at age 75.

Michael was a mason by trade; served as collector of taxes and chimney viewer; drew land in 1694; and was appointed ensign of south trainband 1710.

Michael's will is dated Oc. 9, 1741, Hartford probate XIV:24,25; Manwaring III:409 with inventory dated Aug. 24, 1742. Legacies went to sons Stephen,m Caleb, Elixha, Jonathan, David, Nathanaiel, Joseph; daughters Elizabeth, wife of Zachariah Bunce; Ann, wife of Dosetheus Humphrey, with Caleb and Elisha executors. Distribution of the estate, on file without date, was made to Caleb, Nathaniel, Zachariah Bunce in right of Elizabeth his wife, and to Dosetheus Humphrey in right of his wife Ann.

     Anne Griswold was born on 4 January 1714/15 at Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Michael Griswold and Elizabeth Burnham.¹ Anne Griswold married Dositheus Humphrey, son of Nathaniel Humphrey and Agnes Spencer, on 23 May 1734 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Anne Griswold died on 21 December 1801 at age 86. She was buried at Center Churchyard, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

     Dositheus Humphrey was born on 4 December 1709.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Humphrey and Agnes Spencer.¹ Dositheus Humphrey married Anne Griswold, daughter of Michael Griswold and Elizabeth Burnham, on 23 May 1734 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Dositheus Humphrey died before 2 August 1763.¹ He was buried at Center Churchyard, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

The Humphrey Genealogy states that Anne was the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Cook) Grisowld. However, the Griswold genealogy clearly shows the distribution of the estate of Michael Griswold (husband of Elizabeth Burnham) to his daughter Anne, wife of 'Dosethus' Humphrey.

     Cyprian Nichols was baptized on 14 February 1706. He was the son of Cyprian Nichols and Mary Spencer.¹ Cyprian Nichols married Agnes Humphrey, daughter of Nathaniel Humphrey and Agnes Spencer, in 1732. Cyprian Nichols died in 1745.¹

     Agnes Humphrey was born in 1711.¹ She was the daughter of Nathaniel Humphrey and Agnes Spencer.¹ Agnes Humphrey married Cyprian Nichols, son of Cyprian Nichols and Mary Spencer, in 1732. Agnes Humphrey married Capt. Isaac Seymour, son of John Seymour and Lydia Mason. Agnes Humphrey died on 20 December 1793 at small-pox.¹
