     Anna Eloine Hayden was born on 9 July 1854.¹ She was the daughter of James Edward Hayden and Catharine Ives.¹

     Died in the Army. Edward H. Hayden was born on 1 August 1842. He was the son of Hiram Hayden and Mary Williams. Edward H. Hayden died on 12 November 1862 at age 20.

     Moses Ensign was born on 2 March 1794.¹ He was the son of Isaac Ensign and Lurannah Pettibone.¹ Moses Ensign married Martha Tuller Whiting, daughter of Elijah Whiting and Sabra Hart, on 11 September 1816. Moses Ensign died on 7 June 1864 at age 70.¹

Moses lived in Simsbury, CT; was a Democrat, prominent in political life and in the Congregational Church. He was a blacksmith and tinsmith.

     Martha Tuller Whiting was born on 12 January 1797. She was the daughter of Elijah Whiting and Sabra Hart. Martha Tuller Whiting married Moses Ensign, son of Isaac Ensign and Lurannah Pettibone, on 11 September 1816. Martha Tuller Whiting died on 15 January 1853 at age 56.

     Ralph Hart Ensign was born on 3 November 1834 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of Moses Ensign and Martha Tuller Whiting.¹ Ralph Hart Ensign married Susan M. Toy, daughter of Joseph Toy and Jane (?), on 21 July 1863.² Ralph Hart Ensign died on 22 March 1917 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 82.^1,2

Ralph was a successful merchant and manufacturer; President of the Ensign-Bickford Company of Simsbury.

     Susan M. Toy was born on 3 June 1838 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Toy and Jane (?). Susan M. Toy married Ralph Hart Ensign, son of Moses Ensign and Martha Tuller Whiting, on 21 July 1863.¹ Susan M. Toy died on 30 June 1910 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 72.¹

     Julia Whiting Ensign was born on 3 October 1878.¹ She was the daughter of Ralph Hart Ensign and Susan M. Toy.¹ Julia Whiting Ensign married Robert Darling, son of David Henry Darling and Mary Hoskins Evans, on 14 May 1902.

     Robert Darling was born on 1 July 1876. He was the son of David Henry Darling and Mary Hoskins Evans. Robert Darling married Julia Whiting Ensign, daughter of Ralph Hart Ensign and Susan M. Toy, on 14 May 1902.

     Joseph Ralph Ensign was born on 24 November 1868.¹ He was the son of Ralph Hart Ensign and Susan M. Toy.¹ Joseph Ralph Ensign married Mary Jane Phelps, daughter of Jeffery Orson Phelps and Jane Humphrey, on 5 April 1894 or 5 April 1895. Joseph Ralph Ensign died on 22 January 1941 at age 72.

Ralph graduated Hartford High School, 1885; Yale College 1889, where he delivered the Commencement "Philosophical Oration," subject "Robert Morris." He is a member of Alpha Delta Theta; Manufacturing President of Ensign-Bickford Co., of Simsbury, Conn.

     Mary Jane Phelps was born on 13 November 1865. She was the daughter of Jeffery Orson Phelps and Jane Humphrey. Mary Jane Phelps married Joseph Ralph Ensign, son of Ralph Hart Ensign and Susan M. Toy, on 5 April 1894 or 5 April 1895.

     Oliver Messenger was born on 6 February 1743/44 at Norwich (now Franklin), New London Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Messenger and Joanna Collins.¹
