     Dorothy Fitch was born in April 1658 at Saybrook, New London Co., CT. She was the daughter of Rev. James Fitch and Abigail Whitfield.² Dorothy Fitch married Nathaniel Bissell, son of Capt. John Bissell and Mary Drake, on 4 July 1683 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Dorothy Fitch died on 28 June 1691 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 33.

     Daniel Griswold was born circa 1687 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Daniel Griswold married Sarah White, daughter of Capt. Daniel White and Sarah Bissell, on 5 September 1716 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ Daniel Griswold married Sarah White, daughter of John White and Hannah (?), on 5 September 1739 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT. Daniel Griswold died in 1772. His estate was probated on 4 November 1772 at Litchfield, Litchfield Co., CT.

Daniel servedas ensign in the Indian Wars. He moved to Bolton, CT, in 1729. About 1760 he was living in Harwinton, Ct. He is mentioned in the Wyllys Papers as a soldier under Col. William Whiting in the 1709 expedition against Canada.

     Sarah White was born on 20 August 1694.² She was the daughter of Capt. Daniel White and Sarah Bissell.¹ Sarah White married Daniel Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 5 September 1716 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² Sarah White died on 1 February 1738 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT, at age 43.²

     Nathaniel Griswold was born on 14 February 1684 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Nathaniel Griswold married Ruth Gaylord, daughter of Nathaniel Gaylord and Abigail Bissell, on 14 October 1731 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Nathaniel Griswold died on 16 September 1753 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 69. He was buried at Old Poquonock Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

Nathaniel served in Queen Ann's War, 1711; was an ensign during the French and Indian War; served on the Canadian Expedition.


Nathaniel wrote a will on 14 December 1750, witnessed by Henry Allyn, Josiah Allyn Jr., Henry Allyn Jr. Inventory was taken 30 October 1753, app Moses Griswold, Isaac Griswold, Geo Griswold, with Ruth to besole Exec. Legatees were Ruth, wife; Naomi and Azubah, daughters; and Nathaniel, son. A daughter Ruth was not mentioned. She may have died before her father or have already been provided for. ⁴

     Ruth Gaylord was born on 10 April 1699 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Gaylord and Abigail Bissell. Ruth Gaylord married Nathaniel Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 14 October 1731 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Pelatiah Griswold was born on 13 September 1689 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell.

     Mary Griswold was born on 22 February 1692 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Mary Griswold married Jeremiah Birge, son of John Birge and Hannah Watson, on 1 January 1718/19 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Mary Griswold died on 8 June 1763 at age 71.

     Died of epidemic dysentery. Jeremiah Birge was born on 22 September 1686. He was the son of John Birge and Hannah Watson. Jeremiah Birge married Mary Griswold, daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 1 January 1718/19 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Jeremiah Birge died on 15 September 1776 at age 89.

     John Birge was born on 14 January 1649/50. He was the son of Richard Birge and Elizabeth Gaylord.² John Birge married Hannah Watson on 28 March 1678. John Birge died on 2 December 1697 at age 47.

     Hannah Watson married John Birge, son of Richard Birge and Elizabeth Gaylord, on 28 March 1678. Hannah Watson died on 24 July 1690.

     Stiles shows Abigail to be a Gaylord. Stiles only lists children Edward, Abigail, and Keziah. Edward Griswold was born on 8 March 1695/96 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Edward Griswold married Abigail Griswold, daughter of Francis Griswold and Abigail Colton, on 23 June 1728 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Edward Griswold died on 18 May 1775 at age 79.

     Could be Abigal Gaylord. Abigail Griswold was born on 23 December 1704. She was the daughter of Francis Griswold and Abigail Colton. Abigail Griswold married Edward Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 23 June 1728 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Griswold died on 7 August 1763 at age 58.

     Deborah Griswold was born on 7 November 1698 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Deborah Griswold married Edward Phelps, son of Joseph Phelps and Sarah Hosford, on 18 June 1723 at Litchfield, Litchfield Co., CT. Deborah Griswold died on 18 January 1771 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT, at age 72.

     Children listed in Spear, Phelps, Bowman. Edward Phelps was born in 1697. He was the son of Joseph Phelps and Sarah Hosford. Edward Phelps married Deborah Griswold, daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 18 June 1723 at Litchfield, Litchfield Co., CT. Edward Phelps died on 3 May 1790 at Litchfield, Litchfield Co., CT.

     Sarah Hosford was born on 27 September 1666. She was the daughter of John Hosford and Phillury Thrall. Sarah Hosford married Joseph Phelps, son of Lt. Timothy Phelps and Mary Griswold, on 18 November 1686.

     David Griswold was born on 6 August 1701 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. David Griswold married Huldah Brown on 23 December 1731 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. David Griswold died on 1 August 1760 at age 58.

     Huldah Brown married David Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 23 December 1731 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Mindwell Griswold was born circa 1682. She was the daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell. Mindwell Griswold married Ebenezer Hayden, son of Lt. Daniel Hayden and Hannah Willcockson, on 12 January 1708/9 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

Mindwell is not listed in Stiles, Bowman lists her as last child. Stiles (under Hayden) says she is probably the daughter of Edward. The Frenches list here her. Bissell does not list her either.

     Ebenezer Hayden was born on 14 December 1681. He was the son of Lt. Daniel Hayden and Hannah Willcockson. Ebenezer Hayden married Mindwell Griswold, daughter of Daniel Griswold and Mindwell Bissell, on 12 January 1708/9 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Ebenezer Hayden died at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.

Mindwell and Ebenezer lived at Hayden Station, CT. He inherited from his father the south part of the original homestead of his grandfather William. The children are listed in Stiles and Hayden.

     Lt. Daniel Hayden was born on 2 September 1640 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of William Hayden and unknown (?). Lt. Daniel Hayden married Hannah Willcockson, daughter of William Willcockson and Margaret (?), on 17 March 1664/65 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.³ Lt. Daniel Hayden died on 22 March 1712/13 at age 72.²

Lieut. Daniel Hayden was the first Connecticut-born Hayden. He was "born here in Windsor," four years before his father bought the homestead at Haydens, and he remained here when his father and the rest of the family removed to Homonoscett. His father gave him the homestead and outlying lands, to which he made large additions during his subsequent life. He continued to work the "Stone Pit," and seems to have supplied all the demand for grave-stones in Windsor during his generation. Five years before his death he distributed his lands among his four sons, and saw them all settled around him, sole occupants of all the original and later purchases of his father and himself, constituting all the north part, and two-thirds of all the territory which now constitutes what is Haydens. Jabez Hayden.

     Hannah Willcockson was born circa 1644.¹ She was the daughter of William Willcockson and Margaret (?).¹ Hannah Willcockson married Lt. Daniel Hayden, son of William Hayden and unknown (?), on 17 March 1664/65 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Hannah Willcockson died on 19 April 1722 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Orlin Helon Hayes was born on 20 March 1812 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Enoch Hayes II and Asenath Gillett.¹ Orlin Helon Hayes married Mary Ann Fox, daughter of Joel Fox and Jeanette Mason, on 6 January 1841 at Fowler, Trumbull Co., OH; no children.¹

Orlin and Mary were enumerated in the 1850 Fowler, Trumbull Co., OH. He was a farmer age 38, she was 30. The only child in the household was Lucy Ann Sage 14.

     Morgan Enoch Hayes was born on 6 April 1814 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Enoch Hayes II and Asenath Gillett.¹ Morgan Enoch Hayes married Hannah Rathburn in November 1836.¹ Morgan Enoch Hayes died on 11 September 1869 at Fowler, Trumbull Co., OH, at age 55.¹

Morgan and Hannah were enumerated in the 1850 Fowler, Trumbull Co., OH, federal census. He was a drover, age 36, she was 35. Children in the household were Dwight 13, Lucy 10, Picton 7, Lucius 5.

Morgan and Hannah were enumerated in the 1860 Fowler, Trumbul Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer age 45, she was 44. Children in the household were Picton 18, Lucius 15, and Lorinda 8.

     Elizabeth Rogers married John Drake at probably England.¹ Elizabeth Rogers died on 7 October 1681.¹

     Capt. Thomas Griswold was born on 10 December 1682 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake. Capt. Thomas Griswold married Abigail Sackett, daughter of John Sackett and Deborah Filley, on 5 September 1725 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Capt. Thomas Griswold died Marh 7, 1753.

     Abigail Sackett was born in October 1690. She was the daughter of John Sackett and Deborah Filley. Abigail Sackett married Capt. Thomas Griswold, son of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake, on 5 September 1725 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     This Samuel does not appear in French. Cora Griswold of the Griswold Family Association notes that it is unlikely htere could be two Samuel Griswolds, both b. 1684 to the same family, therefore this Samuel was ruled out. Samuel Griswold died D.Y. He was born in 1684. He was the son of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake.

     Hezikiah Griswold was born on 18 February 1687/88 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake.

     Hester Griswold was born on 1 January 1689 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake. Hester Griswold married Daniel Gunn, son of John Gunn and Mary Williams, on 15 October 1712.

     Daniel Gunn was the son of John Gunn and Mary Williams. Daniel Gunn married Hester Griswold, daughter of Thomas Griswold and Hester Drake, on 15 October 1712.

     John Williams married Mary Burley on 29 June 1644.

     Mary Burley married John Williams on 29 June 1644. Mary Burley died on 3 August 1665.

     Edward Griswold was born on 16 December 1682. He was the son of Edward Griswold and Abigal Williams. Edward Griswold died on 8 July 1715 at age 32.

     Abigail Griswold was born on 3 August 1685 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA. She was the daughter of Edward Griswold and Abigal Williams. Abigail Griswold married Sgt. Joseph Barnard, son of Joseph Barnard and Sarah Strong, on 4 October 1705 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Griswold died in 1747.

     Benjamin Cooley was born circa 1617. He married Sarah Tremaine. Benjamin Cooley died on 17 August 1684 at Springfield (Longmeadow), MA.

     Sarah Tremaine married Benjamin Cooley. Sarah Tremaine died on 23 August 1684 at Springfield (Longmeadow), MA.

     Ann Porter married William Gaylord, son of Deacon William Gaylord, on 24 February 1641. Ann Porter died in 1653.

     Elizabeth Drake was born. She was the daughter of John Drake and Elizabeth Rogers. Elizabeth Drake married William Gaylord, son of Deacon William Gaylord, on 9 February 1653.

     Ann Gaylord was born on 24 April 1645 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of William Gaylord and Ann Porter. Ann Gaylord married Capt. Isaac Phelps, son of George Phelps and Phillury Randall, on 11 March 1664/65.¹

     Hannah Gaylord was born on 30 January 1646. She was the daughter of William Gaylord and Ann Porter.

     Stiles seems not concerned that John was 5 years old when he married. There is also some confusion about which Drake he married; Elizabeth of Mary. Stiles marries off Elizabeth to John's father William on the previous page and shows Mary's marriage to John under the Drake section. John Gaylord was born on 27 June 1648 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of William Gaylord and Ann Porter. John Gaylord married Mary Drake, daughter of John Drake and Elizabeth Rogers, on 17 November 1653. John Gaylord died on 13 July 1689 at age 41.

     William Gaylord was born on 25 February 1650 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of William Gaylord and Ann Porter.

     Hezekiah Gaylord was born on 11 February 1652 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of William Gaylord and Ann Porter. Hezekiah Gaylord died on 12 September 1677 at age 25.

     Josiah Gaylord was born on 13 February 1654. He was the son of William Gaylord and Elizabeth Drake.

     15 weeks old at his father's death. Nathaniel Gaylord was born on 3 September 1656 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of William Gaylord and Elizabeth Drake. Nathaniel Gaylord married Abigail Bissell, daughter of Thomas Bissell and Abigail Moore, on 17 October 1678 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Nathaniel Gaylord died after 1703.
