Giles Ellsworth was born on 6 August 1703 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Jonathan Ellsworth and Sarah Grant. Giles Ellsworth married Hannah Stoughton, daughter of John Stoughton and Sarah Fitch, on 6 February 1728.³ Giles Ellsworth died on 20 March 1768 at age 64.

Stiles shows two different marriage dates for Giles and Hannah. In the Ellsworth section he shows 1728; in the Stoughton section he shows 1738. Hopefully, 1728 is correct since she had three children prior to 1738.
