Five Loomis descendents: four brothers and their sister, the children of Colonel James Loomis and 7th generation descendents of Joseph, were without direct heirs. They pooled their considerable resources, and funded what is now the Loomis-Chaffee School. The original charter was drawn up in 1874 for the Loomis Institute, and construction began in the early 1900's, after the death of the last of the original board of trustees. The school was for both males and females; fairly early on, a separate facilty was created for girls, called the Chaffee School after the mother of the founders. In 1971 the 2 schools merged again, and became known as the Loomis-Chaffee School.
Col. James Loomis was born on 24 October 1779 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Ozias Loomis and Sarah Roberts. Col. James Loomis married Abigail Sherwood on 7 March 1805. Col. James Loomis died on 11 May 1862 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 82.

     Charles D. Ordway was born on 15 December 1858. He married Rosette Hendee, daughter of Franklin Jones Hendee and Sarah Van Sicklen. Charles D. Ordway died on 16 June 1933 at age 74.

     Helen A. White was born at Hebron, NY. She married Elisha Rich Hendee, son of Germain Franklin Hendee and Sara Rosette Jones, on 20 November 1866. Helen A. White died in 1877 at Pittsford, Rutland Co., VT.

     Helen G. Hendee was the daughter of Elisha Rich Hendee and Helen A. White.

     Sarah Abigail Tiffany was born on 6 August 1870. She was the daughter of Amos D. Tiffany and Eliza Maria Hendee.

     Marian Hendee was born in 1893. She was the daughter of Whipple Frank Hendee and Ella Dodge.

     Margaret Harmon was born on 13 March 1886. She married Henry Dodge Hendee, son of Whipple Frank Hendee and Ella Dodge. Margaret Harmon died on 6 November 1915 at age 29.

     Esther Rudeen was born on 13 August 1893. She married Henry Dodge Hendee, son of Whipple Frank Hendee and Ella Dodge. Esther Rudeen died on 19 March 1963 at age 69.

     Harvey Loomis was born on 28 February 1785 at Torringford, CT. He was the son of Joseph Loomis and Rhoda Stark.

     Ian Frasier Anderson was born on 30 May 1988 at Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. He was the son of Kim Martin Anderson and Leslie Ann Jonsrud.

     Mary Kisloski was born on 3 March 1914 at South Deerfield, MA. She was the daughter of Alexander Kisloski and Lena Pyktel. Mary Kisloski married Donald McKenzie Holcombe, son of Amos Roberts Holcombe and Ida Belle Cook, on 28 August 1940 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA. Mary Kisloski died on 2 March 1999 at East Hartford, CT, at age 84. She was buried Sunday, March 7, 1999 at Copper Hill Cemetery, East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Hartford Courant obituary March 4, 1999.

     Donna Marie Holcombe was born on 3 April 1943 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 She was the daughter of Donald McKenzie Holcombe and Mary Kisloski. Donna Marie Holcombe married Lucien August Saucier on 14 December 1969 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Donna Marie Holcombe died on 10 January 1992 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, at age 48.^2,3

     Ransom Hall was born on 5 February 1831 at Isle La Motte, Grand Isle Co., VT. He was the son of Carmi Hall and Mary Pike. Ransom Hall died on 9 October 1911 at age 80.

     Melissa A. Hall was born on 11 January 1834 at Isle La Motte, Grand Isle Co., VT. She was the daughter of Carmi Hall and Mary Pike. Melissa A. Hall died on 17 January 1860 at age 26. She was buried at South Cemetery, Isle La Motte, Grand Isle Co., VT.

     Information on Ira and his descendants is from Islander, 8/3/1999, Isle La Motte, Vt, by Donna Holcomb Larose. Ira Anson Hall was born on 4 July 1839 at Isle La Motte, Grand Isle Co., VT. He was the son of Carmi Hall and Mary Pike. Ira Anson Hall married Theresina Pike, daughter of Seneca Harold Pike and Cynthia Elvira Hall. Ira Anson Hall died on 7 March 1906 at age 66.
