     Seth Babbitt was born in 1692. He was the son of Edward Babbitt and Abagail Tisdale. Seth Babbitt married Sarah Crossman, daughter of John Crossman and Johannah Thayer. Seth Babbitt died on 15 September 1751.

     Sarah Crossman was born on 27 August 1692. She was the daughter of John Crossman and Johannah Thayer. Sarah Crossman married Seth Babbitt, son of Edward Babbitt and Abagail Tisdale. Sarah Crossman died on 11 April 1725 at age 32.

     Edward Babbitt was born on 15 July 1655. He was the son of Edward Babbitt and Sarah Tarne. Edward Babbitt married Abagail Tisdale, daughter of John Tisdale and Sarah Walker, on 1 February 1683. Edward Babbitt died in 1732.

     Abagail Tisdale was the daughter of John Tisdale and Sarah Walker. Abagail Tisdale married Edward Babbitt, son of Edward Babbitt and Sarah Tarne, on 1 February 1683.

      Edward Babbitt was also known as Edward Bobet. He was born. He died on 25 June 1675.

     Nathan Babbitt was born on 16 December 1695 at Berkley, MA. He was the son of Edward Babbitt and Abagail Tisdale. Nathan Babbitt married Mary Snallum, daughter of William Snallum and Sarah (?). Nathan Babbitt died on 25 February 1759 at Norton, MA, at age 63.

     Mary Snallum was born in 1703. She was the daughter of William Snallum and Sarah (?). Mary Snallum married Nathan Babbitt, son of Edward Babbitt and Abagail Tisdale. Mary Snallum died on 16 December 1783.

     Nathan Babbitt was born on 8 October 1730 at Norton, MA. He was the son of Nathan Babbitt and Mary Snallum. Nathan Babbitt married Abigail Cobb, daughter of Benjamin Cobb and Mary Mason, on 1 February 1752. Nathan Babbitt died on 31 August 1794 at age 63.

     Abigail Cobb was born on 5 March 1731. She was the daughter of Benjamin Cobb and Mary Mason. Abigail Cobb married Nathan Babbitt, son of Nathan Babbitt and Mary Snallum, on 1 February 1752. Abigail Cobb died on 10 May 1782 at age 51.

     Benjamin Cobb married Mary Mason in 1726. Benjamin Cobb died on 11 May 1763 at Norton, MA.

     Mary Mason married Benjamin Cobb in 1726.

     Samuel Forward Jr. was born in November 1776 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe. Samuel Forward Jr. married Abigail Higley, daughter of Jonathan Higley Jr. and Rachel Phebe Negus, in 1795 at Hartford Co., CT.²

     Susannah Forward was born in June 1779 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe.

     Oliver Owen Forward was born on 1 December 1781 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe. Oliver Owen Forward died at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY.

     Walter Forward was born on 24 January 1783 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe.

Of the many persons born in East Granby who have obtained distinction in business and professional life, perhaps no other has merited and attained to the renown of Walter Forward. He was the fourth, in order of birth, of ten children born to Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcomb. The place of his birth (which occurred Jan. 24, 1783) is shown upon the map of ancient Simsbury. He lived in Turkey Hills, receiving only the advantages of a common-school education, until in 1803 he removed with his father to Aurora, Ohio. Walter immediately went to Pittsburg, Penn., attended for a short time an academic school, studied law with Judge Young, and was admitted to practice at the age of twenty-four. While engaged in his law studies, in 1805, he also edited the “Tree of Liberty,” a Jeffersonian paper, at Pittsburg. His success as a lawyer was immediate, and he soon ranked high in his profession. In 1822 he was elected to Congress, where he served three terms in succession. In 1837 he was a valuable member of the Constitutional Convention of the State. In 1841 he was appointed by President Harrison first Comptroller of the Treasury; and by John Tyler made Secretary of the same. After retiring from the secretary-ship of the Treasury he resumed the practice of the law, in which he continued until appointed by President Taylor Chargé d’ Affaires to Denmark, a position which he resigned to accept that of Presiding Judge of Alleghany County. This latter he held at the time of his death, in 1852.

He was a man of most kind and generous nature, and interested himself to aid his younger brothers to education and position. His brother Chauncey, born in 1793, studied law in his office, and settled in Somerset, Penn. He was a member of both houses of the legislature of Pennsylvania, and three terms, from 1825 to 1831, a member of Congress. The daughter of Chauncey Forward became the wife of the Hon. Jeremiah Black, who also studied law in the office of Walter Forward at Pittsburg. Two sisters, Hannah Forward Clark and Betsey Forward Fowler, lived to the advanced ages of ninety-eight and ninety-seven years respectively.

     Hannah Forward was born on 4 April 1785 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe.

     Betsey Forward was born on 11 May 1787 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe.

     Julia Forward was born in July 1790 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe. Julia Forward married Samuel Ferguson on 3 July 1806 at Trumbull Co., OH.

     Chauncey Forward was born on 4 February 1793 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe.

     Rensselaer Forward was born on 3 September 1795 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe. Rensselaer Forward died on 3 October 1795 at age 0.

     Dryden Forward was born in March 1798 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe. Dryden Forward died in 1822 at St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO.

     Abigail Higley was born on 9 April 1772 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Jonathan Higley Jr. and Rachel Phebe Negus.¹ Abigail Higley married Samuel Forward Jr., son of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe, in 1795 at Hartford Co., CT.¹ Abigail Higley died on 15 April 1855 at Bryan, OH, at age 83.¹

     Louisa Forward was born in 1798 at CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward Jr. and Abigail Higley. Louisa Forward married Thomas D. James.

     Samuel Forward was born in 1802 at CT. He was the son of Samuel Forward Jr. and Abigail Higley. Samuel Forward married Fidelia (?).

Samuel and Fidelia were enumerated in the 1850 Hartsgrove, Ashtabula Co., OH, federal census. He was a millwright, age 47, she was 33. Children in the household were Lester H. 2, and Mary 1. There were two Forward teenagers in the household, listed last as laborers.

     Thomas D. James was born between 1790 and 1791 at MA. He married Louisa Forward, daughter of Samuel Forward Jr. and Abigail Higley.

     Fidelia (?) was born circa 1816 at NY.¹ She married Samuel Forward, son of Samuel Forward Jr. and Abigail Higley.

     Harlow Forward was born between 1847 and 1848 at OH. He was the son of Samuel Forward and Fidelia (?).

     Mary Forward was born between 1849 and 1850 at OH. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Fidelia (?).

     Myra Forward was born between 1856 and 1857 at OH. She was the daughter of Samuel Forward and Fidelia (?).

     Oliver T. Forward was the son of Oliver Owen Forward and Sarah Granger.

     Samuel Ferguson married Julia Forward, daughter of Samuel Forward and Susannah Holcombe, on 3 July 1806 at Trumbull Co., OH.

     Daughter Forward was the daughter of Chauncey Forward.
