McPherson notes that Oswald was recorded in the 1850 census of Granby as a merchant, boarding there, without family. Oswald Cicero Holcombe was born on 9 June 1819 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lemuel Cicero Holcombe and Julia Griswold.¹

     Jeremy Hoadley Holcombe was born on 24 January 1821 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lemuel Cicero Holcombe and Julia Griswold.² Jeremy Hoadley Holcombe married Caroline (?).³

McPherson notes that Jeremy was recorded in the 1850 census of Granby as a farmer, living with his parents.


Jeremy H. and Caroline were enumerated in the 1880 East Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a farmer age 59; she was 55. There were no children in the household.


Caroline was enumerated in the 1900 East Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. She was a widow, age 75. She had never had any children.

     Edwin Van Ness Holcombe was born on 27 December 1822 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lemuel Cicero Holcombe and Julia Griswold.¹

Probably the Edwin V. Holcomb enumerated in the 1900 Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, federal census in the Old Folks Home. He was 28 widowed, born Dec 1817.

     Hugh Hamilton Holcombe was born in 1825 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lemuel Cicero Holcombe and Julia Griswold.² Hugh Hamilton Holcombe died on 13 June 1857 at Cavalla, West Africa.²

McPherson notes that Hugh is recorded in teh 1850 census of Granby as a lawyer, living in his parents' home, unmarried; became a clergyman of the Protestant Episcopal Church and went on a mission to Africa, where he died.

     Harriet Van Ness Holcombe was born circa 1826 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Lemuel Cicero Holcombe and Julia Griswold.¹ Harriet Van Ness Holcombe died on 16 September 1832.¹

     Cicero Holcomb Merwin was born on 29 January 1843 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Henry Platt Merwin and Julia Matilda Holcombe.

     Jesse Hugh Merwin was born on 15 January 1851 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Henry Platt Merwin and Julia Matilda Holcombe.

     Arabella Hortensia Merwin was born on 18 December 1853 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Henry Platt Merwin and Julia Matilda Holcombe.

     Jennie Van Ness Merwin was born on 31 August 1856 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Henry Platt Merwin and Julia Matilda Holcombe.

     William Haven died in 1885. He was born in 1885 at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY. He was the son of William Haven and Caroline Maria Merwin.

     Hezekiah M. Holcombe was born in 1815. He was the son of Daniel Bates Holcombe and Sarah Case. Hezekiah M. Holcombe died on 29 June 1831. He was buried on 1 July 1831.

     Catherine Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Daniel Bates Holcombe and Sarah Case.

     Georgianna Adeliza Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Daniel Bates Holcombe and Sarah Case.

     Martha D. Roberts was born on 25 February 1837. She was the daughter of Harvey Joseph Roberts and Betsy Smith.

     William Harrison Roberts was born on 15 September 1839. He was the son of Harvey Joseph Roberts and Betsy Smith.

     Elizabeth Burnham was born on 18 March 1674. She was the daughter of William Burnham and Elizabeth Loomis. Elizabeth Burnham married Michael Griswold, son of Michael Griswold and Ann (?), on 12 May 1692. Elizabeth Burnham died on 9 September 1741 at age 67.

     Joseph Burnham was born. He was the son of William Burnham and Elizabeth Loomis.

     Nathaniel Burnham was born. He was the son of William Burnham and Elizabeth Loomis.

     Samuel Burnham was born early 1658. He was the son of Thomas Burnham and Anna Wright. Samuel Burnham married Mary Fitch, daughter of Capt. Joseph Fitch and Mary Stone, by January 2, 1686/7. Samuel Burnham died on 19 April 1728 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

     John Phinney was born on 5 October 1760 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. He was the son of Pelatiah Phinney and Mercy Washburn. John Phinney married Sarah Thompson in 1780 at Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA. John Phinney died on 2 April 1785 at Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA, at age 24.

     Sarah Thompson was born on 16 August 1762 at Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA. She married John Phinney, son of Pelatiah Phinney and Mercy Washburn, in 1780 at Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA. Sarah Thompson died on 17 April 1835 at Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA, at age 72.

     Levi was a Revolutionary War Patriot. Levi Babbitt was born on 31 August 1757. He was the son of Nathan Babbitt and Abigail Cobb. Levi Babbitt married Elizabeth Babbitt, daughter of Abiathar Babbitt and Abigail Babbitt, on 21 December 1779. Levi Babbitt died on 8 May 1795 at age 37.

     Elizabeth Babbitt was born on 29 October 1758. She was the daughter of Abiathar Babbitt and Abigail Babbitt. Elizabeth Babbitt married Levi Babbitt, son of Nathan Babbitt and Abigail Cobb, on 21 December 1779. Elizabeth Babbitt died on 9 April 1800 at age 41.

     Abiathar was a Revolutinary War Patriot. Abiathar Babbitt was born on 13 October 1716 at Easton, MA. He was the son of Seth Babbitt and Sarah Crossman. Abiathar Babbitt married Abigail Babbitt, daughter of Nathan Babbitt and Mary Snallum, on 26 May 1743. Abiathar Babbitt died on 16 November 1806 at age 90.

     Abigail Babbitt was born on 11 August 1724. She was the daughter of Nathan Babbitt and Mary Snallum. Abigail Babbitt married Abiathar Babbitt, son of Seth Babbitt and Sarah Crossman, on 26 May 1743. Abigail Babbitt died on 23 June 1813 at Harvard Shakers at age 88.
