     Arthur W. Langford was born on 13 July 1896 at Walnut, Bureau Co., IL. He was the son of John Langford and Julia Arminia Holcombe.¹ Arthur W. Langford married Myrtle Gertrude Holcombe, daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair, on 11 November 1920 at Clinton, Clinton Co., IA.² Arthur W. Langford died on 15 August 1955 at Rock Falls, Whiteside Co., IL, at age 59; of a heart seizure.³ He was buried at Walnut Cemetery, Walnut, Bureau Co., IL.

Arthur and Myrtle were enumerated in the 1930 Coloma, Whiteside Co., IL, federal census, only a few households away from Linus Holcombe. He was a trucker on the C & NW Railway, age 34, she was 34. The only child in the household was Irene, 8.

Arthur W. Langford, residing at 1010 Ave. B., Rock Falls, passed away Monday evening at the residence.


The Body was removed to the Melvin Funeral Home whre friends may call after 7 p.m. tuesday. Funeral sservices will be conducted at the funerl hme at 1:30 p.m. thursday, with the Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Rock Falls Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery at Walnut, Ill.


He was born July 13, 1896 in Walnut, the son of John and Julia Holcomb Langford. He had been a resident of Rock Falls the last 43 years. His wife, Myrtle G. Langford, passed away June 3, 1953.


Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Charles Love, Joliet; three grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Morris and Mrs. Melton Price, both of Rock Falls.


He was preceded in death by his wife his parents, one brother and one sister.

     Carrie Baker was born circa 1900 at IA.¹ She married Elmer LeRoy Holcombe, son of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair, circa 1919.¹ Carrie Baker married (?) Ennis.² Carrie Baker married (?) Bennett.²

     (?) Bennett married Carrie Baker.¹

     Earl F. Holcombe was born on 26 June 1929 at IL.^1,2 He was the son of Elmer LeRoy Holcombe and Carrie Baker.¹ Earl F. Holcombe married Ceola H. (?).² Earl F. Holcombe died on 24 April 1972 at age 42.² He was buried at IOOF Cemetery, Rock Falls, Whiteside Co., IL; Sec 19, Lot 25.²

Earl served in the Korean War, Co. A. 82nd Engineer Bn.

     Bessie Cornelia Holcombe was born on 27 May 1898 at Tampico, Whiteside Co., IL.¹ She was the daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Bessie Cornelia Holcombe died on 19 June 1898.¹

     Walter Benjamin Holcombe was born on 27 December 1912 at Amboy, Lee Co., IL.^1,2 He was the son of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Walter Benjamin Holcombe married Eugenia Radke.¹ Walter Benjamin Holcombe died on 3 December 1980 at Rock Falls, Whiteside Co., IL, at age 67.^1,2

     Isabell Holcombe was born on 19 August 1914.¹ She was the daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Isabell Holcombe died on 25 August 1914.¹

     Nellie Holcombe was born on 19 August 1914.¹ She was the daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Nellie Holcombe died on 27 February 1915.¹

     Helen Irean Holcombe was born on 28 October 1905.¹ She was the daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Helen Irean Holcombe died on 13 January 1907 at age 1; of diptheria.¹

     Sherman Bonnell was born circa 1895 at IL.¹ He married Abbie Lenora Holcombe, daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair, circa 1920.¹ Sherman Bonnell died on 26 March 1964.

     Myrtle Baker was born in 1906 at MO.^1,2,3 She married Gerald Thomas Holcombe, son of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Myrtle Baker died on 2 August 1967.³ She was buried at IOOF Cemetery, Rock Falls, Whiteside Co., IL; Sec 12, Lot 15.³

     Glen Holcombe was the son of Gerald Thomas Holcombe and Myrtle Baker.¹ Glen Holcombe died; drowned.

     Kenneth McNinch was born on 27 January 1910.^1,2 He married Bertha May Holcombe, daughter of Linus Noble Holcombe Jr. and Abbie Lair.¹ Kenneth McNinch died on 30 June 1989 at Rock Falls, Whiteside Co., IL, at age 79.²

     Irving Silas Baker was born on 24 December 1895.¹ He died on 23 April 1976 at age 80.¹
