     Jonathan Ward was born on 1 March 1727 or 1728. He was the son of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Ruben Ward was born on 13 November 1748 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Jonathan Ward and Dorcas Chick.

     John Humphrey Jr. was born on 20 October 1732. He was the son of Esquire John Humphrey and Lydia Reed.²

     William Ward was born on 4 January 1729 or 1730. He was the son of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     McCracken indicates that Elizabeth was a widow of Holcombe. Simeon Ward was born on 12 April 1731. He was the son of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe. Simeon Ward married Elizabeth Phelps on 6 December 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Elizabeth Phelps married Simeon Ward, son of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe, on 6 December 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Simeon Ward was born on 29 June 1753. He was the son of Simeon Ward and Elizabeth Phelps.

     William Ward was born on 28 February 1757. He was the son of Simeon Ward and Elizabeth Phelps.

     McCracken notes that in the Simsbury Records her name precedes that of Simeon but with dates shown. Mary Ward was born on 4 November 1733. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Rebecca Ward was born on 28 March 1736. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Mindwell Ward was born on 3 January 1742/43. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Elizabeth Ward was born on 18 March 1744 or 1745. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Ruth Ward married David Phelps. Ruth Ward was born on 14 July 1747. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe. Ruth Ward died in 1825.

     Anne Ward was born in June 1751. She was the daughter of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe. Anne Ward married Isaac Messenger, son of Isaac Messenger and Hannah Alford.

     James Ward was born on 18 May 1754. He was the son of William Gamaliel Ward and Damaris Holcombe.

     Ann Pettibone was born on 11 March 1679 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of John Pettibone Sr. and Sarah Eggleston. Ann Pettibone married Ensign John Holcombe, son of Nathaniel Holcombe and Mary Bliss, on 19 March 1706/7 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Ann Pettibone died on 12 July 1753 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 74.¹ She was buried at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

Additional information on Ann is from Mrs. Edward E. (Jean A.) Bradley, CSG#19523, in a letter dated October 7, 1999.

     Ann Holcombe was born on 1 February 1707/8. She was the daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. Ann Holcombe was baptized on 8 February 1707/8 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She married George Granger, son of George Granger and Lydia Younglove, on 6 August 1729 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 Ann Holcombe died after 20 May 1743.

Ann was mentioned in her father's will of 20 May 1743, McCracken says died v.p.

     George Granger was born on 27 March 1702 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of George Granger and Lydia Younglove. George Granger married Ann Holcombe, daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone, on 6 August 1729 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^2,1

     Ann Granger was born on 19 July 1732.¹ She was the daughter of George Granger and Ann Holcombe.

     Rhoda Granger was born on 26 April 1735. She was the daughter of George Granger and Ann Holcombe. Rhoda Granger married (?) Whiting.¹

     Ruth Granger was born on 19 January 1737/38 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of George Granger and Ann Holcombe. Ruth Granger married Ezra Hoskins at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Ruth Granger died before 7 December 1812 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Dinah Holcombe was born in 1708. She was the daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. Dinah Holcombe was baptized on 28 August 1709. She married John Granger in 1730.¹ Dinah Holcombe died on 27 December 1788.¹ McCracken notes: no birth found but probably child bapt. by Dudley Woodbridge, name gone; named as eldest of the living daughters in father's will.

Seaver shows marriage, McCracken does not.

     John Granger was born on 30 May 1694 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He married Dinah Holcombe, daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone, in 1730.¹ John Granger died on 6 September 1782 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 88.¹

     Seaver gives the birth year as 1724 and McCracken notes the error saying the age at death was read as "28" and should have been read "38". McCracken notes that the marriage date was not recorded. Moses Holcombe was born on 24 May 1714 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^4,5 He was the son of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. Moses Holcombe was born on 24 May 1724.⁶ He married Elizabeth Phelps on 31 October 1745 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Moses Holcombe died on 13 August 1752 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 38.⁷ He was buried at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

     Elizabeth Phelps married Moses Holcombe, son of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone, on 31 October 1745 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Ann Holcombe was born on 24 January 1747/48 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Moses Holcombe and Elizabeth Phelps.

     Elizabeth Holcombe was born on 27 January 1749/50 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Moses Holcombe and Elizabeth Phelps.

     Died at age 4. Ruth Holcombe was born say 1752. She was the daughter of Moses Holcombe and Elizabeth Phelps. Ruth Holcombe died on 21 October 1756 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² She was buried at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

     Baptised as 3rd daughter. Hester Holcombe was baptized on 6 May 1715 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was born on 25 January 1715/16 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. Hester Holcombe married Brewster Higley Jr., son of Brewster Higley and Hester Holcombe, on 13 March 1734 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Hester Holcombe died on 28 June 1774 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 58.³ She was buried at Simsbury Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴

     Damaris Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. Damaris Holcombe married William Gaines on 25 August 1736 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Seaver does not mention this child.

McCracken notes that the birth and baptism not found. She obviously d.v.p., as not mentined in her father's will but must be inserted here in order to make her sister Martha, as recorded, 5th daughter. She is not listed among the children of her father in The Heritage of Granby page 173. She must not be confused with her 1st couisin who was having Ward children both before and after this marriage, which was probably childless.

Bowman places Damarius as a daughter of Thomas Holcombe III, probably based partly on the above information. She and William Gaines will be continued under Thomas Holcombe III.

     William Gaines married Damaris Holcombe, daughter of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone, on 25 August 1736 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     McCracken notes that no birth or baptism found, but Seaver gives a birth date. John Holcombe was born in 1709. He was the son of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone. John Holcombe married Mary Kent on 23 April 1741 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Of Suffield. Mary Kent married John Holcombe, son of Ensign John Holcombe and Ann Pettibone, on 23 April 1741 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Ruth Holcombe was born on 10 May 1742 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of John Holcombe and Mary Kent. Ruth Holcombe died on 12 June 1742 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 0.¹

     There is some confusion about Eunice, Bowman indicates she is dau of Samuel Eno and Eunice Marshall? John Holcombe was born on 6 May 1743 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of John Holcombe and Mary Kent. John Holcombe married Eunice Marshall, daughter of Capt. Samuel Eno and Eunice Marshall, on 31 March 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴

     Eunice Marshall was born on 5 October 1746 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Capt. Samuel Eno and Eunice Marshall. Eunice Marshall married John Holcombe, son of John Holcombe and Mary Kent, on 31 March 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Eunice Holcombe was born on 14 February 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of John Holcombe and Eunice Marshall. Eunice Holcombe died on 23 August 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 0.²

     Eunice Holcombe was born on 25 August 1770 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of John Holcombe and Eunice Marshall.

     Asahel Holcombe Esquire was born on 12 November 1742 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ He was the son of Deacon Asahel Holcombe and Thankful Kent. Asahel Holcombe Esquire married Sarah Eno on 3 February 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁵ Asahel Holcombe Esquire married Sarah Kent in 1802. Asahel Holcombe Esquire married Martha Barber, daughter of Daniel Barber and Martha Phelps. Asahel Holcombe Esquire died on 1 June 1816 at age 73. He was buried at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

McCracken: Died testate. Martha was the wife named in the will. This man was called and so signed his will dated 4 Jan 1816, probated 3 June 1816, witnesses Zerviah Owen, Lydia Owen, Isaac Owen Jr., Asahel Holcomb Jr., to distinguish him from his like-named uncle who actually survived him. The will names beloved wife Martha, son Asahel, son-in-law Reuben Barker, son Calvin, and the following grandchildren (parents not identified): Ariel or Uriel Holcomb, Hervey Holcomb [in distribution called J.H. Holcomb], Solomon Flagg Holcomb, Sopohia, wife of Lyman Phelps, Sally wife of Hervey Alderman, Cynthia Holcomb, and the wife of Reuben Barker is named Sarah. There is an executors bond of $20,000 signed by Reuben Barker, James H. Holcomb and the mark of Martha Holcomb, 3 June 1816. The inventory is lengthy and the setting out of the various pieces of real estate to the heirs is detailed.

     Sarah Eno was born in 1738. She married Asahel Holcombe Esquire, son of Deacon Asahel Holcombe and Thankful Kent, on 3 February 1764 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Sarah Eno died on 27 July 1802. She was buried at East Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

McCracken says died less probably, 19 Sept 1804 aet 56.

     Martha Barber was born on 8 June 1760 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Daniel Barber and Martha Phelps. Martha Barber married Asahel Holcombe Esquire, son of Deacon Asahel Holcombe and Thankful Kent. Martha Barber died in 1830.

     Sgt. Richard Case was born in 1710 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Capt. Richard Case and Amy Reed. Sgt. Richard Case married Mercy Holcombe, daughter of Ensign Joshua Holcombe and Mary Hoskins, on 4 May 1733 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ Sgt. Richard Case died on 12 April 1769 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

They removed from Weatogue to Chestnut Hill, in West Simsbury, (now Canton) in 1737, and were the first settlers there.

     Mercy Holcombe was born on 4 September 1714 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ She was the daughter of Ensign Joshua Holcombe and Mary Hoskins.² Mercy Holcombe married Sgt. Richard Case, son of Capt. Richard Case and Amy Reed, on 4 May 1733 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ Mercy Holcombe died on 10 June 1780 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 65.

     Richard Case was born on 7 June 1734 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 He was the son of Sgt. Richard Case and Mercy Holcombe. Richard Case married Ruth Case, daughter of Amos Case and Mary Holcombe, on 8 January 1760 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^2,4 Richard Case married Mary Case, daughter of Thomas Case and Elizabeth Woodford, on 26 January 1795. Richard Case died on 7 April 1805 at West Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 70.²

     Joab Case was born on 16 December 1735 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Sgt. Richard Case and Mercy Holcombe. Joab Case died in 1738 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Sylvanus Case was born on 31 July 1737 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Sgt. Richard Case and Mercy Holcombe. Sylvanus Case married Caroline Humphrey, daughter of Charles Humphrey and Hepzibah Pettibone. Sylvanus Case died on 5 April 1817 at age 79.

     Simeon Case was born on 4 July 1739 at West Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Sgt. Richard Case and Mercy Holcombe. Simeon Case married Mary Case, daughter of Amos Case and Mary Holcombe, at Canton, Hartford Co., CT. Simeon Case died on 19 October 1823 at Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT, at age 84. He was buried at Hollow Cemetery, Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT.
