     Dolly Ellsworth was born in 1815. She was the daughter of Calvin Ellsworth and Dolly Lovejoy.

     Bowman questions the marriage to Lyman. Letetia Ellsworth was born. She was the daughter of Calvin Ellsworth and Dolly Lovejoy.

     Roxanna Ellsworth was born. She was the daughter of Calvin Ellsworth and Dolly Lovejoy.

     Lucretia M. Ellsworth was born in 1815. She was the daughter of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord.

     Anna Ellsworth was born in 1817. She was the daughter of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord. Anna Ellsworth died in 1822.

     Sarah Elizabeth Ellsworth was born in 1818. She was the daughter of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord.

     Josiah Orton Ellsworth was born on 14 November 1820 at East Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord. Josiah Orton Ellsworth married Lucy S. Mills, daughter of Philo Mills and Sally Terry, on 27 March 1846 at Chicopee Falls, MA. Josiah Orton Ellsworth died on 3 October 1889 at East Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 68.

     Lucy S. Mills was born on 27 March 1826. She was the daughter of Philo Mills and Sally Terry. Lucy S. Mills married Josiah Orton Ellsworth, son of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord, on 27 March 1846 at Chicopee Falls, MA. Lucy S. Mills died on 2 June 1900 at age 74.

     Emily S. Ellsworth was born in 1822. She was the daughter of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord.

     Anna Aurelia Ellsworth was born in 1824. She was the daughter of Josiah Ellsworth and Lucretia Lord. Anna Aurelia Ellsworth died in 1852.

     Sarah Loomis was born on 29 December 1708. She was the daughter of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Bissell.

     Joseph Loomis was born on 10 October 1710 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Bissell. Joseph Loomis married Sarah Woodward on 17 February 1735/36.² Joseph Loomis died on 11 April 1760 at age 49.²

     Daniel Loomis was born on 7 April 1713. He was the son of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Bissell.

     Benoni Loomis was born on 30 March 1715. He was the son of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Bissell.

     Sarah Woodward married Joseph Loomis, son of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Bissell, on 17 February 1735/36.¹ Sarah Woodward died on 19 November 1736.

     Sarah Loomis was born on 15 November 1736.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Loomis and Sarah Woodward. Sarah Loomis married Josiah Webster, son of Josiah Webster and Hannah Hutchinson.¹ Sarah Loomis died circa 1794.¹

Sarah and Josiah settled in Warren, NY. He was a coopoer, carpenter and joiner. ²

     Abigail Loomis was born on 8 May 1745 at Lebanon, New London Co., CT. She was the daughter of Joseph Loomis and Abigail Clark.

     Mary Loomis was born on 15 January 1690/91. She was the daughter of Sgt. Daniel Loomis and Mary Ellsworth.

Mary was still living 1740, apparently when her father's will was proven.

Don Barber acknowledges that he mistakenly assigned a marriage for this daughter Mary to Jospeh Barber in the 1st edition of his book.

     Unnamed Alderman died in 1841.¹ Unnamed Alderman was born in 1841.¹ Unnamed Alderman was the child of Sylvester Phelps Alderman and Hannah Bell.¹

     Martha Loomis was born on 24 February 1704 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.² She was the daughter of William Loomis and Martha Morley. Martha Loomis married Jonathan Phelps, son of Nathaniel Phelps and Eunice (?), on 16 July 1729. Martha Loomis married Dr. Jonathan Buttolph, son of Sgt. David Buttolph and Mary Buck, on 15 February 1758 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. Martha Loomis died on 30 April 1804 at South Canaan, CT, at age 100.³

     James Barnett was born on 17 June 1751 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Barnett and Rebecca Holcombe. James Barnett married Martha Mills, daughter of Pelatiah Mills and Hannah Higley, on 31 March 1774 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. James Barnett died on 28 February 1821 at Bridgewater, Oneida Co., NY, at age 69. He was buried at Paris Cemetery, Paris, Oneida Co., NY.

     Martha Barber was born on 13 June 1752. She was the daughter of Daniel Barber and Naomi Barber.

     Mary Barber was born on 12 October 1758 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. She was the daughter of Daniel Barber and Naomi Barber. Mary Barber married Elisha Oviatt, son of Benjamin Oviatt and Frances Warner, on 27 January 1777 at New Milford, Litchfield Co., CT. Mary Barber died on 27 January 1833 at Scio, Allegany Co., NY, at age 74.

     Elisha Oviatt was born on 3 August 1752. He was the son of Benjamin Oviatt and Frances Warner. Elisha Oviatt married Mary Barber, daughter of Daniel Barber and Naomi Barber, on 27 January 1777 at New Milford, Litchfield Co., CT. Elisha Oviatt died on 3 April 1831 at Scio, Allegany Co., NY, at age 78.

     Frances Oviatt was born on 22 February 1780. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Frances Oviatt died on 15 August 1856 at age 76.

     Sally Oviatt was born on 13 October 1781. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Sally Oviatt died on 11 January 1867 at Hornell, NY, at age 85.

     Benjamin Franklin Oviatt was born on 16 August 1783 at Berlin, Renssalaer Co., NY. He was the son of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Benjamin Franklin Oviatt married Frances Sweet, daughter of William Sweet and Patience Maxson, on 5 March 1804 at Berlin, Renssalaer Co., NY. Benjamin Franklin Oviatt died on 18 July 1864 at Hornellsville, Steuben Co., NY, at age 80.

Benjamin Franklin Oviatt was born in the part of Albany County that became Rensselaer County in 1791. He married Frances Sweet from Berlin, NY, some of their children were born there.

Although no trace of the Columbia (Bradford County, PA) Baptist Church book has been found, it was formed in 1812 from eastern immigrants and recent converts. They had no house of worship, but met usually at "Columbia Flats", now known as Sylvania. Benjamin Oviatt was pastor from 1819 to 1821. He performed 90 baptisms. Joseph Beaman was an Old School preacher there,(obviously the man for whom he named his son Joseph Beaman Oviatt). History of Bradford Co. PA p. 133.

The Columbia and Wells church was recognized at the house of James Seely in 1821. Benjamin Oviatt was pastor in 1823 and Joseph Beaman in 1824. Bradford Co. History, p. 134.

Benjamin served as supply pastor in 1860, a house of worship had been built in 1853. (History of Bradford Co., PA p. 134)

The first clearing of the area was in 1795, with the first permanent settlers coming in 1799-1800. Columbia was part of Smithfield until 1814, the first post office was established in 1818, called Sylvania, later the name of the settlement. In 1819 the Rev Benjamin Oviatt came, and preached three years in the neighborhood, holding meetings in the school-house near Mr. Corey's, which was soon called "Baptist Hill", and in Samuel Edsall's barn. Interestingly, in the 1820 census of Bradford Co., PA Benjamin Oviat is listed with one male 0-10, one male 10-16, one male 30-40, one female 0-10, one female 10-16. Son Ira was 16, son William was 13, daughter Frances was 8, Joseph B. was not born until 1823. No adult female was listed.

He was well educated,a Baptist layman preacher. In 1840 a Baptist Church was organized by William and Benjamin Oviatt in Smethport, PA. It originated in Norwich Twp. PA 1836-37. The Smethport Courthouse was being built in 1826, after which the Elder Oviatt preached on the second floor of the building.

Benjamin's wife died in 1836, her place of death listed as Amity, NY. The name of Amity was later changed to Belmont. Amity was formed from Angelica and Scio, Feb 22, 1830. The Genessee River flows through the valley with hilly summits 500 to 800 feet above. (Historical and Statistical Gazateer of NY State; Heart of Lakes Pub.) He married Sally Bagley soon after the death of Frances as they had children as soon as 1838. Benjamin died July 1864, and is buried at Hornell, NY

"Rev. Benjamin Oviatt, son of Elisha Oviatt was born August 16, 1783, died at Alfred, NY July 1864. He was born and grew to manhood near Troy, NY, received a good education, and became a minister of the Baptist Church. He married at Alfred, Frances Sweet, born Sept 18, 1782." from Genealogical and Personal History of Northern PA, under editorial supervision of John W. "Carrie Oviatt of Smethport, PA says her grandfather Benjamin Franklin Oviatt was a Baptist minister, preaching from the time he was 21 years of age. He was called Father Oviatt in that part of the state." (Notes from wife of grand nephew of Carrie Oviatt.)

Benjamin Oviatt's obituary reads: 1864 Died: At his sister's in Hornersville, NY. July 17, 1864 where he was on a visit, after an illness of three days, Benjamin Oviatt, aged 80 years and 11 months.

     Naomi Oviatt was born on 9 September 1785 at NY. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Naomi Oviatt died on 15 March 1864 at NY at age 78.

     Daniel Barber Oviatt was born on 28 March 1787 at NY. He was the son of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Daniel Barber Oviatt died on 15 August 1859 at Amity, Allegany Co., NY, at age 72.

     Elisha Oviatt was born on 19 July 1789 at NY. He was the son of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Elisha Oviatt died on 16 August 1847 at NY at age 58.

     William Oviatt was born on 21 December 1791 at NY. He was the son of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. William Oviatt died on 30 December 1867 at NY at age 76.

     Mary Oviatt was born on 13 August 1794 at NY. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Mary Oviatt died on 26 May 1872 at age 77.

     Martha Oviatt was born on 19 April 1797 at NY. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber. Martha Oviatt died on 15 April 1858 at NY at age 60.

     Japheth Zophar Oviatt was born on 29 April 1799. She was the daughter of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber.

     John Barber was born in 1696 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Barber and Ruth Drake. John Barber married Jane Alvord on 24 July 1717. John Barber died on 29 March 1767 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Jane Alvord married John Barber, son of Samuel Barber and Ruth Drake, on 24 July 1717.

     Frances Sweet was the daughter of William Sweet and Patience Maxson. Frances Sweet married Benjamin Franklin Oviatt, son of Elisha Oviatt and Mary Barber, on 5 March 1804 at Berlin, Renssalaer Co., NY. Frances Sweet died on 10 June 1836.
