     Denton E. Holcombe was born on 5 August 1877. He was the son of Mahlon A. Holcombe and Mary M. Boothe. Denton E. Holcombe died on 9 August 1878 at age 1.

     Eunice Morse was born in 1745. She was the daughter of Solomon Morse and Elizabeth Fenn. Eunice Morse married Amasa Holcombe, son of David Holcombe and Sarah Slater. Eunice Morse died on 8 December 1767.

     Eunice Holcombe was born on 19 October 1763. She was the daughter of Amasa Holcombe and Eunice Morse. Eunice Holcombe married Joseph Dyer on 27 April 1784 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 Eunice Holcombe died on 10 April 1852 at age 88.⁴

McPherson says she married Jared Barber; Granby Town Records say she married Joseph Dyer.

     William Holcombe was born in 1765. He was the son of Amasa Holcombe and Eunice Morse.

     Amassa Holcombe II was born in 1769. He was the son of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath. Amassa Holcombe II married Abigail Elton.

Moved to Trumbell Co., OH. McPherson indicates there were seven children, but omits numbers five and six, placing Lucius seventh.³

     Timothy Holcombe was born in 1777. He was the son of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath. Timothy Holcombe married Betsy Gatch.

Timothy is recorded in the 1860 census of New Lyme, District #8, Ashtabula Co., OH, as a "retired farmer" owning real estate $1,500 to $3,000, he and wife, Betsy, each being shown in 1860 as 83 years old.

     Loris Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath.

     Clarissa Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath.

     Riley Holcombe was born circa 1784 at CT. He was the son of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath. Riley Holcombe married Esther Stone. Riley Holcombe married Polly (?). Riley Holcombe died on 10 August 1864 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL. He was buried at McLean Co., IL.

Riley moved from CT to Sheldon, Wyoming Co., NY where he bought land and cleared a farm; later moved to Bloomington where his last years were spent in the home of his son, Bird.

     Abigail Elton was born in 1769. She married Amassa Holcombe II, son of Amasa Holcombe and Lois Heath. Abigail Elton died in 1851.

     Joseph enlisted in Capt. Lebbeus Ball's company, Col. William Shepard's Massachusetts regiment; engaged in battle of Monmouth. In 1818 he was allowed a pension. Joseph Dyer was born on 17 March 1758 at England.¹ He married Eunice Holcombe, daughter of Amasa Holcombe and Eunice Morse, on 27 April 1784 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^2,3 Joseph Dyer died on 11 November 1848 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 90.^1,3

     Joseph Dyer Jr. was born on 3 January 1790 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe. Joseph Dyer Jr. died in January 1795 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2

     Joseph Dyer II was born on 18 August 1795 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     Nancy Dyer was born on 20 December 1799 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     Mary and Polly are probably the same person, DAR records show Mary's birth as 1794; Bowman shows 1791. Polly Dyer was born on 15 August 1791 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     Thomas Dyer was born on 17 April 1785 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     George J. Dyer was born on 9 January 1802 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     Henry Dyer was born on 3 January 1788 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe.

     John Dyer was born on 11 September 1798 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Dyer and Eunice Holcombe. John Dyer died on 15 September 1798 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2

     

Marlin is recorded in the 1850 census of New Canaan, Litchfield Co., CT, as a farmer and in the 1860 census of Vernon, Trumbull Co., OH, then living with the family of Lucius Holcombe. Marlin Holcombe was born in 1798. He was the son of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton. Marlin Holcombe married Olive Peet in 1828.

     Niles Holcombe was born. He was the son of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton.

     Mary Holcombe was born circa 1805 at Litchfield Co., CT.³ She was the daughter of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton.

McPherson indicates that Mary and George had at least eight children, James being the eighth.

     Bowman makes a huge leap here, assuming that this Amassa whom McPherson lists as the fourth child which would place him in the early 1800's is the same Amassa as in the Granby Town Records born in 1787 that married Gillet Kendall in 1808. Amassa Holcombe was born. He was the son of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton.

     Lucius Holcombe was born circa 1812 at Litchfield Co., CT.² He was the son of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton. Lucius Holcombe married Orra Harris in 1837 at CT. Lucius Holcombe died on 7 October 1899 at Vernon, Trumbull Co., OH.

Lucius moved to Prkman, Geauga Co., OH, in 1834 and in 1834 to Johnson twp., Trumbull Co., OH, whee he had Ct. friends and there bought land. Learning he could earn money faster to pay for this land by working in Ct. he returned there in 1835 and remained until 1837, when he returned to Johnston Twp. In 1850 he bought a farm at Vernon, trumbull co., OH. In the 1850 and 1860 cnesuses of Johnston Twp he was living with his family, a farmer owning real estate, $3,600 to $4,520. In 1860 his borther Marlin was living in Lucius' home.

      Olive Peet also went by the name of Polly Peet. She was born at CT. She married Marlin Holcombe, son of Amassa Holcombe II and Abigail Elton, in 1828.

     

Jerome operated a chain of hotels at Canaan, Winsted, Hartford and East Haddam, Ct on the Connecticut river. He helped haul stone on boats drawn along the tow path by oxen to build Christ's Episcopal Church, Canaan. Moved from Connecticut to Scranton, Pa. Jerome Holcombe was born on 12 October 1830 at CT. He was the son of Marlin Holcombe and Olive Peet. Jerome Holcombe married Lucia Dunning, daughter of Hawley Dunning and Sarah G. Porter.

     Isabel Holcombe was born in 1832 at CT.² She was the daughter of Marlin Holcombe and Olive Peet.

     Lucia Dunning was the daughter of Hawley Dunning and Sarah G. Porter. Lucia Dunning married Jerome Holcombe, son of Marlin Holcombe and Olive Peet.

     Died unmarried. Edward D. Holcombe was born on 14 November 1852. He was the son of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning. Edward D. Holcombe died on 27 August 1911 at age 58.

     Hawley D. Holcombe was born on 26 January 1856. He was the son of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning. Hawley D. Holcombe died on 28 February 1856.

     James W. Holcombe was born on 6 December 1857. He was the son of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning. James W. Holcombe died on 1 December 1860 at age 2.

     Sarah moved in 1885 as a widow to Scranton, PA to live with her father. Sarah P. Holcombe was born on 6 May 1860. She was the daughter of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning.

     Died unmarried. Lyman R. Holcombe was born on 6 November 1862. He was the son of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning. Lyman R. Holcombe died on 12 January 1919 at age 56.

     Hugh Franklin Holcombe was born on 7 January 1869. He was the son of Jerome Holcombe and Lucia Dunning. Hugh Franklin Holcombe lived at 651 Throop St., Dunmore, PA.

     Adeline Belle Hamilton was born on 20 October 1884 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Hamilton II and Sarah P. Holcombe. Adeline Belle Hamilton lived at 704 Harrison Ave., Scranton, PA.

     Ellen Dunning Gronemeyer was born on 22 September 1916 at Scranton, PA. She was the daughter of Edwin C. Gronemeyer and Adeline Belle Hamilton.

     George S. Dunning was the son of Lyman Dunning and Isabel Holcombe.

     Mary Isabel Dunning was the daughter of Lyman Dunning and Isabel Holcombe.

     Ellen Holcomb Dunning was the daughter of Lyman Dunning and Isabel Holcombe.

     James taught and later became a physician; enlisted and served in Co. B., 87th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the War Between the States. McPherson indicates he had four children, of whom Bernard was fourth. Dr. James K. Buell was born on 1 January 1843 at West Cornwall, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of George Buell and Mary Holcombe. Dr. James K. Buell married Susan Moran on 11 March 1869. Dr. James K. Buell died on 4 March 1933 at Youngstown, OH, at age 90.
