Ambrose Powell Hill1

     Ambrose Powell Hill was born on 13 March 1785. He was the son of Colonel Henry Hill and Anne Powell. Ambrose Powell Hill married Frances Twyman on 18 February 1807. Ambrose Powell Hill died in 1858.

From Information provided by Reed Browning. From "General A.P. Hill: The Story of a Confederate Warrior" "Five children came from the marriage of Henry Hill and Anne Powell. One son, Ambrose Powell Hill (1785-1858), served in both houses of the Virginia legislature in addition to being elected captain of the Culpeper Minute Men militia."

Ambrose P. was enumerated in the 1850 Culpeper Co., VA, federal Census. He was a farmer, age 65. Also in the household was Louisa V. Hill, 50.

The Will of Isaac Lenoir "I Isaac Lenoir of the State of South Carolina and Sumter District being somewhat indisposed but thanks be to God of perfect mind, and memory; and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do hereby ordain and make this last Will and Testament Viz.
