     Born VT or NY 1796-98. Hannah Marsh was born. She married Levi Holcombe II, son of Levi Holcombe and Chloe Poisson, in November 1816 at Medina Co., OH.

     Horace Porter Holcombe was born in 1825 at Florence, Erie Co., OH. He was the son of Levi Holcombe II and Hannah Marsh. Horace Porter Holcombe married Sarah Harrington. Horace Porter Holcombe died on 27 May 1872 at Oceana Co., MI.

Horace Porter Holcomb, farmer, moved from Florence, Erie Co., Ohio to Medina Co., Ohio in the late 1840s and about 1853, to Muir, Ionia Co., Michigan; and between 1865 and 1870 to Leavitt (Levett), Oceana Co., Michigan, where he and sons entered land, being accompanied on last 2 moves by his father, Levi Holcomb II. ²


He went to Cleveland, Ohio, to hear Jennie Lind sing on her first tour while he was still living in Ohio, probably before 1853; served as road supervisor in Levitt Twp., Oceana Co., Michigan; chosen in sportsman-like "tug of war" lined up by supporters of each candidate, and settled without ballots, or rather by physical pulling power of supporters. All had been woodsmen, or timber workers, framers, keepers of herds.²



Horace P. and Sarah were enumerated in the 1850 Spencer, Medina Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer, age 24, she was 22. Children in the household were Washington 3,and "Leoile A." 1. Also in the household were two Harrington children, probably siblings of Sarah's, Stephen 13, and Christina 9.


Porter and Sarah were enumerated in the 1860 Ionia, Ionia Co., MI, federal census, page 88. He was 45, she was 41. Children in the household were Perry 13, Samantha 10, and Benjamin 7.



Porter and Sarah were enumerated in the 1870 Levitt, Oceana Co., MI, federal census, page 8, he was a farmer age 45, she was 43. Children in the household were Benjamin 16, and Delia 9/12. Porter's father, Levi age 76 was also in the household.

     Jack Holcombe was born at Florence, Erie Co., OH. He was the son of Levi Holcombe II and Hannah Marsh. Jack Holcombe died at MI; in Soldiers Home.¹

     Daughter Holcombe was born. She was the daughter of Levi Holcombe II and Hannah Marsh.

     Elizabeth Holcombe was born at Florence, Erie Co., OH. She was the daughter of Levi Holcombe II and Hannah Marsh.

     Sarah Harrington was born circa 1827. She married Horace Porter Holcombe, son of Levi Holcombe II and Hannah Marsh.

     Perry Washington Holcombe was born on 16 November 1846 at Erie Co., OH. He was the son of Horace Porter Holcombe and Sarah Harrington. Perry Washington Holcombe died in January 1940 at Clio, Wayne Co., IA, at age 93.²

Farmer, living in Ionia Co., MI at age of 17 years, - in 1863 enlisted in the 10th Mich. Cav. of Union Army became Corp'l and was honorable discharged after 18 months service; worked in Michigan timbers. ³

      Samantha Holcombe was also known as Mattie Holcombe.¹ She was born circa 1849 at Medina Co., OH. She was the daughter of Horace Porter Holcombe and Sarah Harrington.

     Benjamin Levi Holcombe was born at Ionia Co., MI. He was the son of Horace Porter Holcombe and Sarah Harrington.

Benjamin's marriage to Julia and her parentage of all his children is based solely on the SS5 for Porter that indicated Julia was his mother.

     Sarah Delia Holcombe was born on 20 September 1869 at Bird, MI. She was the daughter of Horace Porter Holcombe and Sarah Harrington. Sarah Delia Holcombe died in November 1936 at Hart, Oceana Co., MI, at age 67.¹

     George W. Holcombe was born on 12 November 1869.² He was the son of Perry Washington Holcombe and Levena R. Snow.² Ranchman, Amelia Neb. came from parents' home, Clio, Wayne Co., IA in 1904 to Neb., filed then on Kincaid claim for 640 acres, which he proved; taught for 20 years in IA, Neb. and S. Dak; hunts and fishes as a diversion and has preserved much of the history of his branch of the Holcomb family. He never married. ³

     Miles Walter Holcombe was born on 27 August 1871. He was the son of Perry Washington Holcombe and Levena R. Snow.

     Alice Mae Holcombe was born on 26 April 1873. She was the daughter of Perry Washington Holcombe and Levena R. Snow.

     Sarah Bertha Holcombe was born on 4 April 1875. She was the daughter of Perry Washington Holcombe and Levena R. Snow. Sarah Bertha Holcombe married Albert F. Wright on 10 September 1896.

Sarah and Albert lived in Jolly, Calhoun Co., IA. ¹

     Rosanna Higley was born. She was the daughter of John Higley and Apphia Humphrey.

     Esther Owen was born on 27 October 1739 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of John Owen and Esther Humphrey.¹ Esther Owen married Brewster Higley III, son of Brewster Higley Jr. and Hester Holcombe, on 7 April 1757 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Esther Owen died on 28 September 1812 at Castleton, Rutland Co., VT, at age 72.¹

     John Higley was born on 14 February 1747/48 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of John Higley and Apphia Humphrey. John Higley married Hannah Dibble in 1772 at CT.³ John Higley died in May 1802 at age 54.³

     Sibble Hanchett was born on 4 January 1758 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She married Theodore King, son of Capt. Joseph King, on 28 June 1792 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Sibble Hanchett died on 27 September 1822 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT, at age 64.¹

     Isaac Higley was born circa 22 June 1753. He was the son of John Higley and Apphia Humphrey.

     Jesse Alderman was born circa 1766.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Alderman Jr. and Keziah Holcombe.¹ Jesse Alderman died in 1775.

     Roger Higley died young. He was born on 13 January 1765 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Higley and Ann Clark.

     Martha Higley was born on 29 June 1766 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Higley and Ann Clark. Martha Higley married Job Mills, son of John Mills and Wait Miller.

     Job Higley was born on 31 July 1768 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Higley and Ann Clark. Job Higley married Dorcas Eggleston on 9 May 1792 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Job Higley died in 1808 at on a ship.

     Dorcas Eggleston married Job Higley, son of John Higley and Ann Clark, on 9 May 1792 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Job Mills was born circa 1761 at Canton, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Mills and Wait Miller. Job Mills married Martha Higley, daughter of John Higley and Ann Clark. Job Mills died on 27 November 1807 at Tyringham, Berkshire Co., MA.

     Luther Mills was born at Tyringham, Berkshire Co., MA. He was the son of Job Mills and Martha Higley. Luther Mills married Harriet Stebbins in 1828.

     Job Mills was the son of Job Mills and Martha Higley.

     Miranda Mills was the daughter of Job Mills and Martha Higley.

     Emila Mills was the daughter of Job Mills and Martha Higley.

     William Miller Mills was born on 15 September 1828 at Tyringham, Berkshire Co., MA. He was the son of Luther Mills and Harriet Stebbins. William Miller Mills married Eunice M. Emmons on 24 October 1852 at Delaware Co., NY. William Miller Mills died on 16 November 1920 at Otega, NY, at age 92.

     Eunice M. Emmons was born on 26 June 1836 at Greensburg, IN. She married William Miller Mills, son of Luther Mills and Harriet Stebbins, on 24 October 1852 at Delaware Co., NY. Eunice M. Emmons died on 9 August 1930 at Oneonta, NY, at age 94.

     Harriet Mills was born on 7 August 1855. She was the daughter of William Miller Mills and Eunice M. Emmons.

     Morton L. Mills was born on 10 January 1857. He was the son of William Miller Mills and Eunice M. Emmons.

     Ada Mills was born on 1 February 1859. She was the daughter of William Miller Mills and Eunice M. Emmons.

     Mary Ella Mills was born on 31 December 1862. She was the daughter of William Miller Mills and Eunice M. Emmons. Mary Ella Mills married Arthur Hamilton Brownell on 5 March 1890 at Oneonta, NY. Mary Ella Mills died on 17 January 1898 at Greensburg, IN, at age 35.

     Arthur Hamilton Brownell was born on 22 January 1863 at Hamilton, NY. He married Mary Ella Mills, daughter of William Miller Mills and Eunice M. Emmons, on 5 March 1890 at Oneonta, NY. Arthur Hamilton Brownell died on 10 January 1945 at Oneonta, NY, at age 81.

     Morton Emmons Brownell was born on 1 February 1893 at Oneonta, NY. He was the son of Arthur Hamilton Brownell and Mary Ella Mills. Morton Emmons Brownell married Anna Marie Auch on 28 March 1917 at Oneonta, NY. Morton Emmons Brownell died on 31 July 1966 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, at age 73.

     Anna Marie Auch was born on 13 February 1894 at Sebewaing, MI. She married Morton Emmons Brownell, son of Arthur Hamilton Brownell and Mary Ella Mills, on 28 March 1917 at Oneonta, NY. Anna Marie Auch died on 15 December 1960 at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, at age 66.

     Clinton Mills Brownell was born on 7 December 1895 at Oneonta, NY. He was the son of Arthur Hamilton Brownell and Mary Ella Mills. Clinton Mills Brownell died on 7 November 1899 at Oneonta, NY, at age 3.
