Alphonso Taft married Fanny Phelps, daughter of Charles Phelps and Eliza Houghton, on 29 August 1841.2 US Atty. Gen. Alphonso Taft married Louisa Maria Torrey, daughter of Samuel Davenport Torrey and Susan Holman Waters, on 26 December 1853.2
