     Nancy Holcombe was the daughter of Frederick Wainwright Holcombe and Dorothy Doolittle.

     Harry Holcombe was the son of Henry A. Holcombe and Mary Wainwright.

     Charles Holcombe was the son of Henry A. Holcombe and Mary Wainwright.

     Charles Nelson Holcombe was born on 21 December 1843 at Branford, New Haven Co., CT. He was the son of Frederick A. Holcombe and Mary Rogers.

      Harry Sherman Holcombe was also known as Henry Sherman Holcombe. He was born on 5 March 1846 at Branford, New Haven Co., CT. He was the son of Frederick A. Holcombe and Mary Rogers. Harry Sherman Holcombe married Esther M. Bradley, daughter of Gurdon Bradley and Ann Maria Spinks, in March 1867.³ Harry Sherman Holcombe died on 16 December 1901 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT, at age 55.

Harry S. and Esther M. were enumerated in the 1880 Oakland, Almeda Co., CA, federal census in the household of his brother Charles. Harry was a carriage maker age 34, she was 34. Children in the household were Anna 11, and Harry C. 7.

Henry Sherman Holcomb, a member of the board of fire commissioners of New Haven, died there yesterday morning from injuries received in a fall on the pavement in front of his home on December 6. His skull was fractured and he also suffered concussion of the brain. He was born in Branford in 1846, son of a carriage manufacturer, and was in that business all his life. He moved to New Haven about thirty years ago and was in business under various firm names, including F. A. Holcomb & Sons, F. A. Holcomb's Sons, Holcomb Bros. & Co., and finally the New Haven Carriage Company, which was sold out two years ago to the Electric Vehicle Company. About fifteen years ago Mr. Holcomb spent some time in San Francisco, where his firm had a carriage repository. Since his retirement from the New Haven Carriage Company, Mr. Holcomb had devoted most of this time to the duties of fire commissioner. In politics Mr. Holcomb was a democrat. His first political office was that of fire commissioner, to which he was appointed in 1899 and was elected president. He was for a great many years and up to the time of his death one of the governors of the Quinnipiack Club. He was also a member of the board of governors of the Ansantawae Club. He was a Knight Templar and Past High Priest of Pulaski Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. Some years ago he was very active in Masonic work and there are few high degree Masons better known in the state. He leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. S. A. York, Jr., a son, Harry C., two brothers ex-Mayor George F. Holcomb and Charles N., and two sisters, Miss Minnie Holcomb of Newton, Mass., and Mrs. J. H. Page of Portland, Ore.

     Esther M. Bradley was born at Branford, New Haven Co., CT. She was the daughter of Gurdon Bradley and Ann Maria Spinks. Esther M. Bradley married Harry Sherman Holcombe, son of Frederick A. Holcombe and Mary Rogers, in March 1867.¹

     Seaver gives a birth date for Minnie of 1854 and places her as the eighth child. McPherson gives no birth date but places her as the sixth child born between 1837 and 1843. Minnie Beach Holcombe was born on 15 October 1854 at Branford, New Haven Co., CT. She was the daughter of Frederick A. Holcombe and Mary Rogers.

     McPherson says Anna married Samuel A. York. Anna M. Holcombe married Albert S. York, son of Judge (?) York. Anna M. Holcombe was born circa 1868 at CT.² She was the daughter of Harry Sherman Holcombe and Esther M. Bradley.

     Albert S. York was the son of Judge (?) York. Albert S. York married Anna M. Holcombe, daughter of Harry Sherman Holcombe and Esther M. Bradley.

     Harry Clifford Holcombe married Margaret Manson. Harry Clifford Holcombe was born in 1872 at CT.¹ He was the son of Harry Sherman Holcombe and Esther M. Bradley.

     Margaret Manson married Harry Clifford Holcombe, son of Harry Sherman Holcombe and Esther M. Bradley.

From the Courant 27 October 1933:

New Haven, Oct. 26. The funeral will take place here tomorrow of Mrs. Margaret Hanson Holcomb, widow of Harry Clifford Holcomb, former Yale crew and football player, who died in Brookline, Mass. Yesterday.

Mrs. Holcomb’s father I the days when New Haven had a carrying trade with the West Indies, was head of the Hanson fleet of vessels. Hew husband was of the Yale class of 1896. Margaret Manson was born circa 1873 at ct.¹ She died on 25 October 1933 at Brookline, Norfolk Co., MA.²

     Sherman Holcombe was born circa 1902 at NY. He was the son of Harry Clifford Holcombe and Margaret Manson.

     Mary Holcombe was the daughter of Harry Sherman Holcombe and Esther M. Bradley.

     Kate A. Holcombe was born on 28 May 1841. She was the daughter of William Ward Holcombe and Julia Wheaton.

     Isabella Holcombe was born on 21 September 1844. She was the daughter of William Ward Holcombe and Julia Wheaton.

     Ella S. F. Holcombe was born on 1 September 1849. She was the daughter of William Ward Holcombe and Julia Wheaton.

     Florence A. Holcombe was the daughter of William Ward Holcombe and Julia Wheaton.

     John Reed was born in 1738. He was the son of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe.

     Martin Reed was born in 1742. He was the son of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe. Martin Reed married Mary Moore, daughter of Joseph Moore and Mary Stevens, in 1767.¹ Martin Reed died in 1815.

Listed as Patriot in DAR record # 7043, as having served in 1776 in New York in Capt. Jonathan Buttolph's company, Eighteenth Regiment of militia.

There seems to be some confusion about Martin's parents. The Andrew Moore genealogy lists his parents as John and Malinda (Hollister) Reed, who was the only son of Dr. John Reed, the immigrant.

     Mary Moore was born on 8 May 1749 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Joseph Moore and Mary Stevens.¹ Mary Moore married Martin Reed, son of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe, in 1767.²

     No birth record, not in the will; died in Cuba while in the army. Ami Reed was the son of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe. Ami Reed died on 3 September 1762 at Navana, Cuba.

     Hannah Reed was the daughter of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe. Hannah Reed married David Hayes, son of George Hayes and Sarah (?).

     David Hayes was the son of George Hayes and Sarah (?). David Hayes married Hannah Reed, daughter of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe.

     George Hayes married Sarah (?).

     Sarah (?) married George Hayes.

     Violet Reed was the daughter of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe.

     Lucy Reed was the daughter of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe.

     Benjamin Reed was the child of John Reade and Hannah Holcombe.

     Violet Holcombe was born in 1761. She was the daughter of Elijah Holcombe and Violet Cornish.

     "Dose" enlisted Aug 1, 1777 in Capt. Prior's CT Co. of militia from which he was discharged Jan 9, 1778. He was past 73 years old April 13, 1833, as recorded on the Revolutionary pension rolls at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA, for services rendered in the Continental line. Ladoce Holcombe was born in 1763. She was the daughter of Elijah Holcombe and Violet Cornish.

     Amasa Holcombe died young. He was the son of Elijah Holcombe and Violet Cornish.

     Clymena Holcombe was born in 1771. She was the daughter of Elijah Holcombe and Violet Cornish.

     In connection with his ambition for advanced education useful in nautical pursuit, he accumulated in young manhood standard college text books on optics, geometry, navigation and astronomy. He went to sea; was known to have landed in Ireland; not heard from since. Abijah Holcombe was born in 1775. He was the son of Elijah Holcombe and Violet Cornish. Abijah Holcombe died in 1798.

     Moses Dibble Jr. was born on 5 October 1757.¹ He was the son of Lieutenant Moses Dibble and Elizabeth Holcombe. Moses Dibble Jr. married Elizabeth Hoskins. Moses Dibble Jr. died on 6 November 1832 at age 75.¹

     Elizabeth Hoskins was born say 1763; based on age at death. She married Moses Dibble Jr., son of Lieutenant Moses Dibble and Elizabeth Holcombe. Elizabeth Hoskins died on 6 September 1849.¹

     Benjamin Gillett was born on 3 October 1680 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of John Gillett and Mary Barber. Benjamin Gillett married Elizabeth Austin on 6 September 1705 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.

     Roger Holcombe II was born on 25 February 1767.² He was the son of Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. Roger Holcombe II married Zeruah Gillett, daughter of Nathan Gillett and Dorcas Holcombe. Roger Holcombe II died on 25 November 1847 at age 80.³

Daughter Zeruah was enumerated in the 1850 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census, age 46. Betsey age 51 and Lydia Gillett age 32 were enumerated in the household.

      Zeruah Gillett was also known as Zervia Gillet. She was born on 11 August 1767 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Nathan Gillett and Dorcas Holcombe. Zeruah Gillett married Roger Holcombe II, son of Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. Zeruah Gillett died on 12 February 1843 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 75.¹

     Lucinda was "a devoted Christian, faithful wife and mother." McPherson notes that the records for this family were constructed from other than family records and may be erroneous in part. Lucinda Holcombe married William Latimer. Lucinda Holcombe was born in 1778. She was the daughter of Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett.

     William Latimer married Lucinda Holcombe, daughter of Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. William Latimer died at Rock Creek, Ashtabula Co., OH. He was born at Otis, Berkshire Co., MA.

     Calvin Holcombe was born on 11 July 1771. He was the son of Roger Hayes Holcombe and Mercy Gillett. Calvin Holcombe married Eunice Reed, daughter of Martin Reed and Mary Moore, on 22 February 1798. Calvin Holcombe died on 4 March 1851 at age 79.

Moved to Paris, Portage Co., Oh, in 1814-1815 (he is recorded in the Granby Town Records at the annual town meeting in November 1814 as a Town Haywards Keykeeper); is recorded in the 1840 census in Paris as under 80 years old.
