     Martha Williams was born on 19 October 1896. She was the daughter of Samuel Hubbard Williams and Frances A. Scudder.

     Solomon Stoddard was born on 26 September 1643 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA. He married Hester Warham, daughter of Rev. John Warham and Jane (?), on 8 March 1670 at Northampton, Hampshire Co., MA. Solomon Stoddard died in 1729.

     Hester Warham was born in 1644 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Rev. John Warham and Jane (?). Hester Warham was baptized on 8 December 1644. She married Rev. Eleazar Mather on 29 September 1659 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Hester Warham married Solomon Stoddard on 8 March 1670 at Northampton, Hampshire Co., MA. Hester Warham died in 1736.

     The first minister at Windsor. When he died, he left a large estate to his family, over which his heirs contended for some time, until the General Copurt decided that, as he had left three wills, the validity of them not being plain to the Court, his estate should be distributed "according to law." Rev. John Warham married Jane Branker on 9 October 1662 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² Rev. John Warham died on 1 April 1670.

     Abigail Warham was baptized on 27 May 1638. She was the daughter of Rev. John Warham and Jane (?). Abigail Warham married Capt. Thomas Allyn, son of Hon. Matthew Allyn and Margaret (?), on 21 October 1658.

     William Hayes was the son of William Hayes II and Mary Holcombe.

     Eli Hayes was the son of William Hayes II and Mary Holcombe.

     Jeremiah Hayes was the son of William Hayes II and Mary Holcombe.

     James Holcombe was born in 1792 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.¹ He was the son of James Holcombe. James Holcombe married Olive Noble, daughter of Joel Noble and Naomi Loomis, on 2 August 1811.² James Holcombe married Mary Ann (?) circa 1854.¹ James Holcombe died in 1870 at Dresden, Washington Co., NY.

James was a carpenter and joiner in Granville, NY. Olive and James had eleven children.³

James was convicted of lunacy in March 1869. The papers in the Washington Co., NY, archives show his children to be Levi; Linus; Champlain; Cordelia; Eliza; Esther & Henry Holcomb.

     Olive Noble was born on 10 August 1792 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of Joel Noble and Naomi Loomis. Olive Noble married James Holcombe, son of James Holcombe, on 2 August 1811.¹ Olive Noble died on 13 January 1853 at age 60.¹

     Stephen Holcombe was born on 6 March 1772 at Spencertown, Columbia Co., NY.² He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles. Stephen Holcombe married Susan Ewing, daughter of Capt. John Ewing and Ann Smith, on 25 June 1796 at Bath Co., VA.² Stephen Holcombe died in 1857 at VanBuren Co., IA.² He was buried at Portland-Leando Cemetery, Van Buren Co., IA.²

Stephen and Susanah were enumerated in the 1850 Village Twp., Van Buren Co., IA, federal census. He was a farmer, age 78, she was 74. There were no children in the household. However, John was enumerated next door as was a Meary Holcombe, apparently widowed daughter-in-law Mary Ross.

     Susan Ewing was born on 28 September 1776 at Pocahontas Co., WV.¹ She was the daughter of Capt. John Ewing and Ann Smith. Susan Ewing was baptized on 17 December 1776 at Augusta Co., VA.¹ She married Stephen Holcombe, son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles, on 25 June 1796 at Bath Co., VA.¹ Susan Ewing died in 1855 at VanBuren Co., IA.¹ She was buried at Portland-Leando Cemetery, Van Buren Co., IA.¹

     Judge John Holcombe was born on 14 January 1775 at Spencertown, Columbia Co., NY. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles. Judge John Holcombe married Chloe Mudge, daughter of Daniel Mudge and Eunice Fox, circa 1794 at NY. Judge John Holcombe died on 19 September 1853 at Portland, VanBuren Co., IA, at age 78.

Additional information from People in History to 1980 Gallia County Historical Society, 1980. John was a judge in Gallia Co., Ohio from 1823-1830; he served in the state legislature and was a census taker.

David P. Weir of Pleasanton, CA, has a copy of an agreement between the Judge and his sons Niles, Ira and John M. which distributes part of his estate to them and provides for their brother Daniel.³

     Chloe Mudge was born on 14 January 1776. She was the daughter of Daniel Mudge and Eunice Fox. Chloe Mudge married Judge John Holcombe, son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles, circa 1794 at NY. Chloe Mudge died in 1851.

     Barbara Holcombe was born in 1778. She was the daughter of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles.

     Enoch Holcombe was born on 20 February 1780 at Spencertown, Columbia Co., NY.¹ He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Enoch Holcombe died on 10 January 1829 at Chenango Co., NY, at age 48.¹

McPherson lists Enoch. Chris Boren is researching this line and as yet does not have documentation complete. He shows this Enoch dying in Huntington Twp., Gallia Co., OH.²

     Elijah Holcombe was born in 1781. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Elijah Holcombe died in 1853.

     Taphanes Holcombe was born in 1783. Taphanes Holcombe was the child of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Taphanes Holcombe died in 1789.

     Mary Holcombe was born in 1786. She was the daughter of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Mary Holcombe died in 1845.

     Abner Holcombe was born in 1788. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Abner Holcombe died in 1793.

     Sylvester Holcombe was born in 1790. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Sylvester Holcombe died in 1812.

     Abner Johnson Holcombe was born in 1795. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Abner Johnson Holcombe died in 1844.

     Alexander Holcombe was born in 1797. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore.

     Robert Burgess Holcombe was born on 23 August 1799 at Spencertown, Columbia Co., NY. He was the son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Robert Burgess Holcombe married Maria Harrington on 22 January 1823. Robert Burgess Holcombe married Fanny Weatherbey on 6 February 1845. Robert Burgess Holcombe died on 29 January 1863 at Norwich, Chenango Co., NY, at age 63. He was buried at White Store Cemetery, Norwich, Chenango Co., NY.

Robert and Fanny were enumerated in the 1850 Norwich, Chenango Co., NY, federal census. He was a farmer age 51, she was 45. Children in the household were Leroy 22, Calphurnia 20, Catherine 17, Bradford 15, Robert A. 13, Lucy E. 11, Ansel B. 9, and Maria 7.

Robert and Fanny were enumerated in the 1860 Norwich, Chenango Co., NY, federal census. He was a farmer, age 60. Children in the household were Asahel 23, Lucy 21, and Maria 17.

     Maria Harrington was born on 3 October 1805. She married Robert Burgess Holcombe, son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore, on 22 January 1823. Maria Harrington died on 8 June 1843 at age 37.

     Fanny Weatherbey was born on 6 July 1804 at NY. She married Robert Burgess Holcombe, son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore, on 6 February 1845.

     Mehitable Holcombe was born in 1802. She was the daughter of Zephaniah Holcombe and Mehitable Wetmore. Mehitable Holcombe died in 1841.

     Gideon Shepard was born on 6 January 1747 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.¹ He was the son of Dea. John Shepard and Elizabeth Noble. Gideon Shepard married Silence Noble, daughter of Samuel Noble and Catharine Fowler, on 13 November 1766.¹ Gideon Shepard died on 28 December 1790 at age 43; of consumption.¹

     Silence Noble was born on 28 July 1747 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.³ She was the daughter of Samuel Noble and Catharine Fowler.^1,2 Silence Noble married Gideon Shepard, son of Dea. John Shepard and Elizabeth Noble, on 13 November 1766.³ Silence Noble died on 20 February 1831 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA, at age 83.³

     Esther Holcombe was born in 1767. She was the daughter of Lt. Timothy Holcombe and Abigail Robbins. Esther Holcombe died in 1773.

     Durint the trip of removal of her mother and step-father's family from Canaan, CT, to Starksboro, Addison co., VT in 1790 by wagon to Whitehall, by boat to Charlotte, thence overland to Starksboro, rode horseback, balancing herself on a man's saddle over rough road. Accompanying them was William B. Marsh, physician. A fallen tree had blocked the road, Esther's horse leaped the log in which she lost her bonnet, but not her balance. Dr. Marsh restored her bonnet, which started their courtship and let to their marriage. Esther Holcombe was born in 1773. She was the daughter of Lt. Timothy Holcombe and Abigail Robbins. Esther Holcombe married Dr. William B. Marsh, son of Joseph Marsh, in 1792 at Hinesburgh, VT.

     Dr. William B. Marsh was born on 23 May 1769 at Windham, CT. He was the son of Joseph Marsh. Dr. William B. Marsh married Esther Holcombe, daughter of Lt. Timothy Holcombe and Abigail Robbins, in 1792 at Hinesburgh, VT. Dr. William B. Marsh died on 2 December 1827 at Hinesburgh, VT, at age 58.

     Timothy Holcombe died in 1775. He was born in 1775. He was the son of Lt. Timothy Holcombe and Abigail Robbins.

     Micha Holcombe was born on 11 September 1751 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox. Micha Holcombe married Hannah Hayes on 13 October 1784.³ Micha Holcombe died in 1839 at Washington, Macomb Co., MI.³

Micah was enumerated in the 1810 Bloomfield, Ontario Co., NY, federal census. There was one male 45 and over, 1male 16 - 25, and 2 males 10 - 15; 1 female 45 or older.

     Hannah Hayes was born on 17 September 1752. She married Micha Holcombe, son of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox, on 13 October 1784.¹

     Rosanna Holcombe was born on 9 October 1752 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox.¹ Rosanna Holcombe married Isaac Goddard, son of John Goddard Jr. and Mary Hillyer, in April 1776.³ Rosanna Holcombe died on 20 January 1843 at age 90.²

     Abner was a farmer in Bloomfield. After his death, Louisa and a son moved to Johnstown, Fulton Co., NY. Louisa Holcombe was born in 1754 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox. Louisa Holcombe married Abner Phelps, son of Charles Phelps, in 1785. Louisa Holcombe died on 6 July 1815 at Johnstown, Fulton Co., NY.

     Abner Phelps died at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT. He was born on 15 October 1761 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Charles Phelps. Abner Phelps married Louisa Holcombe, daughter of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox, in 1785.

     Elizabeth Holcombe was born on 8 July 1755 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox.

     Joseph Holcombe was born on 14 February 1758 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Joseph Holcombe and Elizabeth Wilcox. Joseph Holcombe married Sarah Ford, daughter of John Ford and Sarah Wood, on 9 March 1784.

Served as Sgt. and Lt. in Lt. Joel Hayes' command, arriving in NY Aug 22; discharged Sept 16, 1776. He moved with his children to Peru, Berkshire Co., MA June 26, 1833. He was on revolutionary pension rolls for services in CT Militia and State Troops.

Sarah and Joseph moved to Peru, MA, circa 1825-1835.
