Charles C. Alderman was born on 24 November 1838 at WI.1 He was the son of Albert Eugene Alderman and Susan Alderman.1 Charles C. Alderman died on 21 February 1897 at age 58.1 He was buried at Aroca Cemetery, Oakfield, Fond Du Lac Co., WI.1
Charles was a member of the Union Army during the Civil War and was wounded in the Battle of Gettysburg. Charles had a step-son, William, whose wife wrote on May 8, 1941, from Waterloo, Iowa, as follows: "It will be 23 years the 29th of this month since William alderman, my husband, lost his life in a railroad wreck. He was the engineer on a passenger train that went through a bridge. Alderman was not the real name of my husband; his own father died when he was about six months old, and when he ws about two years old his widowed mother married Charles Alderman, and William was given the Alderman name. He said he was quite a big boy before he learned this and at the time not realizing his real name, let it go and always went by the Alderman name, though he was not an Alderman."2
