Sarah Chappell

     Sarah Chappell was born on 16 April 1831.1 She was the daughter of Dickie Chappell and Susannah Pate Tinsley. Sarah Chappell married Benjamin C. Sedberry, son of James Merritt Sedberry and Nancy Terrell Rush, on 25 September 1851 at Maury Co., TN.2

Sarah's firs husband, Ben, had five daughters when he entered the army fo the Confederate States. He was killed in the battle of Thompsons Station, at the time Bedford Forest captured General Shafter. He was in the Cavalry service, but his command had dismounted and were charging a battery of the enemy when he fell. His comrades say he was some ten paces ahead of his command when he fell.2

He formally lived in Columbia, Tenn., but removed to Kansas City, MO, in 1886, where he still resided in 1895 with his childlren.2

Walter Ward Holcombe

Ward served in the US Navy from 1908 to 1912; he worked for the railroads for many years. They had several Ohio residences, particularly Columbus, before finally settling in the toledo suburb of Perrysburg. After Ida's death Ward lived with daughter Helen's family until his death.1
